Hey there Bear.....How you been? I went to the NP to help a friend, and she helped me with my Grandson's class project, called a flatman. Anyways it involves sending pictures back with the little cutout in them. She is holding it, but I haven't done any picture adjustments. I got a load of them and the ice sculptures that are still intact for another week or so. It was warming up yesterday and suppose to get warmer throughout the weekend. I haven't been up there since 1976, so it was a nice "long" drive. It was a lot of fun this past week. The Northern Lights were extremely active this week. Very colorful. I didn't bring my right camera for taking that kind of night photos.

That town leaves the Christmas decorations up 365 days a year. It's actually very pretty driving around the small town. It's spread out over a large area though. Fairbanks is 13 miles away, and they party there. lol. I'm old, but not dead. lol. It was a fun week. I didn't get arrested, so it must be called a win.

I forgot to mention fuel mileage on my trip in my blue 98 4.6. Going to Fairbanks it's more uphill. Coming back is much easier on the cruise control not jumping to downshift. I got 15.9 going there, and coming back tonight, 18.8. I ran at 65-75 going up and was running 80 coming back in several spots. Going up I didn't know the road, and coming back was easier. It took me 6.5 hours up, 5.8 hours back.

Note: clear dry fast roads all the way up and back. 20 minutes after I got home it started snowing at my place. It supposedly snowed this morning, and there were a lot of cars off the road, but the roads and all surroundings were dry when I came thru at 4pm. I did see them pulling 2 newer Dodge 4x4's from the center medians, a Taurus, Tahoe, and a Equinox (?) out coming into town. Some people just can't drive. LOL.

I hit 19 mpg on a road trip once, but I've never been able to match that again. I did just get 15.4 out of my last tank though.... and the only thing I did different was run higher octane for a tank. Not sure that little bit extra is worth 30 more cents per gallon though, LOL. I need to do the math.

Glad your trip was safe though, AK. I agree, lots of people drive like pooh.

I come back to Anchorage, only to see it snow about 9 inches last night and into today. Just when I was going to go dig out lil Red and do the seat swap and get it ready for the heart transplant this summer. Well, there goes another week of waiting. This winter can't end soon enough this year. LOL
