While we are discussing electrical implements, what would you fellas recommend for measuring alternator output to the battery? I was in Walmart last night and they had a clamp style meter but it said it was not for DC current and also not for less than 30 volts. Seems to be a pretty narrow window with those restrictions. If yall have a favorite please let me know.

Yeah, exactly. Unfortunately, HD no longer carries pat number 1001 as a regular stocked item, or I would have had them exchanged last night. In fact, the customer service manager at HD offered to exchange them for any other stripper/crimper that I wanted, but none of them have the same functionality. I actually wound up buying a newer pair with less functionality just because. I'll need to find another Klein dealer and see if they'll be as cool as HD.

Speaking of Klein, I've actually had this on my radar for quite some time. I have the AC only version, and it's a decent meter. It has more functions than my Fluke 323 does.

Looks like they don't even make my model anymore:

Good to see you, Bear. In my experience, T-Mobile has a much worse coverage area then Verizon. In fact, I am switching from Comcast to Verizon home internet very soon. Just waiting on the new equipment to show up. I hope the Mrs. and everyone is doing well. Hopefully you can get some better cell coverage soon! Take care, Bear!

If you don't know, Fluke is pretty much the gold standard for meters. I've tested the Klein against my Fluke for accuracy, and it's right in there with it.

In fact, (speaking of some limited function on the Fluke) in my video for setting base idle on a Fox Body, I have to switch from my Fluke because I need more digits on the display to set the TPS voltage.

This Fluke 323 of mine only gives you voltage in "tenths". I needed it in "hundredths" for setting TPS voltage.

Well in that case the Klein seems to win out and at a much lower price point I don't think I could go wrong with it.

Yogi, glad to see you are still "Alive and Kicking" (Simple Minds). You still working for the same salt mire you were at? Hope all is well with you and your family.

Love my Fluke meters. I hardly use them anymore, but when I do, they are spot on and always give good service. I've never used Klein other than wiring tools and a couple of specific screwdrivers.
