She did indeed have a heart attack. She was transported via ambulance to the U of U hospital and here we sit waiting for the cardiologist. Working on 45 minutes sleep right now.

 

I'm glad yall were proactive White! That kind of thing can go largely unnoticed in women until complications arise later. Let your wife know all your forum friends are thinking of yall!

 

We figure it was 20 minutes from first pain to walking into the ER. They said that was very beneficial in preventing damage. She just went in. Doc said she'll probably get a stent (is that how you spell it?) or two.

 

That was a really fast response. That is how you spell it too. Hopefully she is up and out very soon.

 

It helps living right by a hospital, lol. Probably 5 minutes of that was me telling her she wasn't going to just lay down and go to sleep.

So, the scope of her heart, etc showed no cholesterol or plaque blockage, which is great news. What she has is called SCAD, which is basically a tear in an Artery wall that creates a restriction or blockage. It is still classified as a heart attack. The staff here is so awesome. I'm so glad they transferred her here. If I ever have any heart issues, there are two places on this planet I'd want to be - and this is one of them. Cancer issues, this is the only place.

Anyway... the hospital by home is a partner to the U of U but are not owned by the U. They use U docs, specialists, etc. and even use the very same choppers. In fact, my Wife damn near rode one up here last night.

So glad you/she didn't capitulate, White. Way too many times someone will say, "Oh it'll be better in the morning," and there ends up being no morning.

 

OMG, I was thinking anxiety as well. Seems like you knew exactly what to do White, made all the right choices that's for sure.

A great staff at the hospital is also a major plus.

But wow, yea, from what you said earlier, I wasn't thinking heart attack. Your inner sense is amazing, I hope I have it if the situation ever presents itself.

Rough night. Hospital beds suck, but the guest beds are worse. At 3am I went home and crashed for 4 hours. Back up here now.

 

The cardiologist says she is in heart failure right now. The heart attack damaged it to bring it at a working level of 40% and below 50 is heart failure.

She's a fighter though... if anyone will make it through, I married her.
