Got my drivers license renewal reminder from SOS in the mail today. It says you must make an appointment ahead of time with your nearest branch to avoid any late fees.

Well, my B-day is a month and a half out yet. The next available appointment was in the last week of May.....a month after my license will be expired.

Nice reminder, not sure how this is suppose to work ??? It 's a trap for sure!

In other words, - by setting the appointment, they'll know exactly when I'm coming. I'll never make it past the road block.

We don't have Taxi service out in the boonies.....we have pizza delivery tho, - way more important

During the pandemic mine expired, and Utah sent me my new one in the mail. They just used my old picture.

Speaking of appointments, I got an appointment for my first COVID shot today. Going in on the 15th.

That isn't happening here yet. I didn't call them yet but I've been all over the site, no mention of extensions. They'll have to do something though, hell it's still a month away from expiration.

Currently the SOS is open to d - license renewals and "Real ID" stamps (star endorsement) if you fly in the US. I need both and they're a month behind at this point. As of now you have to come in for that, before expiration dates (b-day). it'll most likely change I expect. Probably like your state did.

Hopefully your situation is better than some of the guys here in the UK

This is from a forum im on over here...

"Well, it's here at long last 1yr 4m and 3wks 5days. Thats how long it's taken DVLA to send me my new licence, the postie delivered it this morning.

Just 2 days short of 17 months."

Luckily he has been able to drive no problem since he sent it off for renewal, you don't loose entitlement to drive when it needs renewing (unless a medical is needed), only if it's taken away from you by the courts etc.

There used to be DVLA offices all over the country but, in their wisdom, they closed them all except their main one in Swansea which is pretty much miles from anyone unless you happen to live in Wales... lol

It doesn't help that most of their staff are either furloughed or working from home

Sounds like it's much better! Mannn, over a year.

You can drive with an expired license. Have to say, that thought didn't cross my mind. In this case, I bet your right!

It might be like this, well, I'm going to give it a shot. For daily appointments, you set it up right at 8am and again at 12pm at their website. I think you literally have do so at exactly 8 or 12 for the day....might be a first come first serve thing daily. Not sure , but I have until April 22 to win the day...so to speak.

Btw- Don't forget about your gold star endorsement (also called "Real ID") if you fly. I don't usually fly unless something comes up, getting it just in case. Doesn't cost anything here. I guess you have until October to get it, might want to take care of that early. They will be checking for it.

It is unbelievably pretty repairable. I am certain the insurance would have totaled it.... but I've priced it all out, and I'm gong to be 500 into it plus fluids. That's all the way fixed. If you look at the red arrows, that is really the only "structural" damage of any kind. Might bend it and reinforce it with 1/4" steel.... I dunno, LOL.

You have a welder correct ? If you have some scrap steel laying around and a bar. Looks like you could fab up something real quick to slip fit those red arrow sections. You know, fab up something that bends everything or most of it at once. Looks like you could get it back close to perfect from here.

Logged into the tube, to the 89g, didn't see anything new.....you working on it?
