Actually I have a drill adapter that sits at the ready, just slap a battery in it and tighten or loosen away. May be 10 seconds before I have a tool out

But I guess that depends on what you use most often, and whether those would work.
well $10 for 2 clamps. OR free and 2 minutes to tighten and loosen some tools I might use once a month.

Yea but, that's just something else you have to carry, keep with yuh...plus you'll have to maintain the battery. I guess it's not that big of a deal if you don't mind...just more to deal with and prepare for. Those old DeWalt batteries can sit for years and hold a charge. I have a DeWalt hedge trimmer with a battery that won't die, season after season. They only made those 1 year, it is a little heavy lol.

I was referring to mounting items that you use regularly to the lid with those clamps for easy access, and leaving the "once-a-month" ones in the bottom of the box, but whatever works, works.

Yea, those quick clamps you posted might be a little pricey, but they look durable. They are also adjustable, 1"- 2 1/4". (They should offer a better package deal price though....pricey for just two) Personally, I like it easy vs fumbling with worm clamps. Worm clamps will work though, save you some cash anyway.

T-clamps might be another option, -

Amazon Amazon

But I don't know, most likley wouldn't work as well as the other clamps in this case.

Glad everyone is okay lol.

Man, that one looks new, doesn't look like you used the hammer side yet. I've broke them smacking wedges but never using the axe side. Must of been a bad handle to begin with IMO. That shouldn't have happened.

OUCH! One more reason: Fiberglass(ish) handles for me! - Fiskars X27 Splitting Axe with FiberComp® handle.

oh I agree, but it sure wasn’t due to bad install. I made sure it had no knots but everyone is ok so that’s what matters. The axe is actually an old head that I rehandled. Got it from an antique store for $14. So for around $30 I got a good splitting maul.

you see I keep an 8lb sledge so I don’t use the reverse side of the maul.

yea Ohio, I personally like the feel of hickory and the fiberglass ones have too much bend for my liking. Plus you don’t know what kind of steel they use. Like the saying “they don’t make them like they used to”
