I run a catch can even on my 07 Mustang. You'd be surprised at how much engines push oil anymore with all the power they produce. I can catch about 4 maybe 5 ounces of oil over a summer of driving. No winter style warm ups or anything special. I am considering putting one on Red. It only takes a couple of ounces over a short time to clog those very small orifice holes, so the catch can is a good idea. JMO, of course.
Hey, AK!- how you?!- i didnt think occ’s were a necessity on n.a. engines- ( although ive had old worn out wheezers that passed enough oil to visibly stain the air filters!)
Buck, my truck has 67,000- so im not too worried about blowby caused by wear right now. I am ocd about my oil changes, too, so i dont think that will be a contributing factor.
i talked to several random folks who had eco’s just to get their opinions- ( most guys were happy to talk about their trucks- imagine that-)- before i went with the eco.- Most of them didnt even know what an occ was, and all of them reported no issues.

Yogi......look on any Mustang forum and "catch can". You will find that these modular motors really can use them. The 4.6 in the 05-10 Mustangs find them very beneficial. The trucks would be no different. Modular is a modular, lol. EB's and NA's still benefit from the can add on. Not a necessity, but over time, a benefit from contaminates not reaching critical sensors, etc.

I put one on my 4.0 and behold, yes, the system has oil going thru it. Sonya only has 44k on her clock I took a spare set of plastic air tubes off another Ford, and just cut them down to fit and installed the can in the line.

Good morning thinkers!- ITS FRIDAY!- hope you all have a great weekend.-
AK, fellers, is there a preferred brand( easy, clean install and ease of use) of occ?
if i pull the trigger, i dont want something that looks jakey, and i absolutely would want something thats easy ( no spills no muss, no fuss- sounds like a commercial!) to check and empty.
You guys be safe at your salt mine, ttyl!

The JLT, UPR, and Mishimoto's are the most popular that I see. UPR and Mishimoto's are usually top notch quality, but also come with a heftier price tag. UPR makes one that has a drain out the bottom.... looks kind of cool.

Or, you could buy a generic can and do like AK did and make your own.

The 351 might be more of a challenge though. If you ever get serious about a swap, I know some great resources that can help. My Buddy does V8 swaps in RBV's (Ranger based vehicles) all the time. Almost all of them using an Explorer donor, and retaining EFI.

EDIT: I went to try and find a pic.... and found this page Jim at TRS put together. Look at the pics about 2/3 of the way down. I'm going to have to go back through there and check it out.

Thank you White! That's pretty awesome! Hopefully I can build this into what I want it to be before life really gets in the way.

I used two Craftsman air/water separators on the Mustang after adding the Vortech. One is in the line from the PCV valve, the other is in the valve cover hose. I don't know if thst qualifies as a proper "catch can system," but it seems to be keeping things in check.

I actually have a JLT on the stang, but I have a generic I'm going to use on Red. I'm had one sitting on my shelves for about 4 years, so time to break it out and use it this summer. I'm also going to take my CAI off Sonya and go back to the factory air box or smaller intake tube on her. We don't have high enough octane fuel (90 is max in AK) to run that CAI. It is set for 91 octane right now with the tune. With my tune, it will only run on the 91 oct platform.

For you fellers that use Chrome on PC or MAC.... UPDATE it NOW! Click the three dots in the upper right corner (under the X), then go to Help, then About Google Chrome and it will update if it needs to. When it is done it will tell you to Relaunch the browser. https://threatpost.com/google-chrome...ws-mac/163688/

I am frantically trying to get all of the crap filled out for The Eight Nine and Frankie so I can move them off my current auto policy. I am insuring The Eight Nine to 20K and Frankie to 5K (I hope). I actually just barely called and dropped The Eight Nine.... so it is currently insured for another week.
