It doesn't matter if it's the 4.0 or the 4.6 v8 it is 1.6 hours It comes out the thru the hood. You do have to crawl under the dash remove the mounting bolts though

Skill Level (Factory Time) MOTOR Time BRAKE POWER BOOSTER UNIT R&R
G (1.3) 1.6

A 98 will be very similar to the Ranger. 98 will be a 4.0 or a 5.0, and the 5.0 has a little bit different booster... not sure what the difference is, but my 98 Mounty had a sticker on the booster that said 5.0 on it. Check out this video, and it will be nearly identical.

EDIT: Rock Auto has them as the same P/N, but mine had a 5.0 sticker below and just to the left of the master.

White, got the 404 message again. I switched to Edge a while ago like you suggested but it didn't make any difference that I can tell. Can't say I did it right though because it went a smoother than I expected???

Anyway, took the dog out as usual at 8 this morning and the Mountaineer was gone. Neighbors car was gone as well and there's been no sign of him yet today. I had a hard time believing the dash had to come out for a new booster but it might be too late to inform him about that now. I don't know? I appreciate the help though either way.

Edit: I think it's IE.

Rivers.... in this awesome and informative episode of UTG, this feller calls the two speed rear a "two speed changer". Maybe this is what you were thinking of?

I'm sure AK and the rest of you would love to hear this history as well.

Awesome video White. Most was all new to me but a lot of people mentioned that except for Roush haven't been talked about in a long time. I love listening to the old timers.

The two speed changer has the same effect of what I was remembering but it was a stand alone device unlike the two speed differential. I did catch a Motor Trend program, Dirt Everyday maybe, that took a Scout to a shop that only works on Scouts and IH vehicles and considered shooting them an email about this but decided it's not that important and I've tried it before and never heard back. Oh well.

Again, great video.
