Yeah... I do. I had my Buddy look at it (transmission Buddy) when he came over on the 4th of July. He thought it looked good too. Wanna know the crappy thing? I have a King Cobra clutch in the box still for the 89, and I could have just put that in there. Guess I'll just get something of RA now, LOL.

Also, I think it does have 2.73's now after driving it for a bit. I also think that is why the clutch issue is accentuated. I remember thinking that my 3.55 gears felt like they put A LOT less stress on my clutch.

I'll give the new cable and quadrant a try first though...

My '87 had 2.73's from the factory. That was a terrible choice for Ford to make on their performance pony car. In my opinion, the 3.08 gear set should have been standard with 3.55's as the option, but someone was probably more concerned with CAFE ratings than performance.

You could get a 3.08 option for the T5's, and a 3.27 for the AOD. My 86 GT had the 3.27 option.... and it was a quick little car as an auto. But the T5 was awesome after I did a T5 swap. That car was a bullet for being damn near stock.

Yeah, I went with a 3.27 ratio in my 87. It was a nice compromise.

LOL, When you said "fan clutch" and mentioned "leaking" I was thinking of the other end of the engine.

Sonya came with factory 331, open differential. I found a wrecked GT, 2012, and it had the LS 355's. I got it, pulled the gears and installed Ford Racing 373's. Talk about night and day, light to light power. I can roast both tires from a start now. Makes passing on the highways much easier also, and quicker.

Even though it wouldn't idle for ****, it definitely seemed quicker speed density. There has always been something about 88's that a lot of people (including myself) swear they were faster than the rest of the herd.

Same with the '87's, and from what I remember it was, in fact, due to having the speed density system. Early '87's also had a different cam, but I seem to recall that SD ECU's had a more aggressive fuel mapping than the MAF-equipped cars.
