"Studs" work as well. Studs without a means to apply torque to,- alone anyway.

Allen studs. - But they have a means to apply torque to...they just look headless lol.

Also, unless the rod is at least a 5 grade, it will bend from the transmission weight and movements.
Threads are smooth ?

Well, from the picks, looks the 98 blew the rear axle seal. Guess I can't put off axles and bearings any longer...dangit! Shouldn't be a bad job I guess, - IF the 9.75 isn't any different than the 8.8 in that regard anyway.

Yes, I believe so. Me and a Buddy were talking, and both of us are convinced that this thing was probably NOT burning oil. Rather, the PCV screen is all plugged up, so it had no PCV whatsoever. It would also explain why it leaked oil from every gasket. I only looked at the screen briefly last night, but it looked plugged. He told me to go get some diesel and it'll take the surface rust right off those walls.

I sure am. I just need to get the title from this Dude, and we'll be clean sailing. BTW, I found an insider at the DMV that was cool enough to verify everything the guy told me.

Well the highboy is going to get its first roadtrip since I drove it home from Texas. Tomorrow Im driving it 3 hours south to a storage center where it will sit until we find a house and I have a garage/barn to put it in. Ive done too much rust repair to let it sit outside at the inlaws house and rot away. Wish me luck tomorrow, Ill be a nervous wreck lol.

2100......if that truck drives as good as it runs now, you will have no problem whatsoever with it. It was doing quite well when you finished to adjustments. I wouldn't worry about 150 miles driving or so.

Whitey do you have the right side fog light for that 88? If not, I will see if I still have one from a wrecked one we parted out. Most of the parts are gone, but a lot of the add ons are still in a box. It was butt-ended by a Jeep. It didn't fair too well.
