@white89gt what was that hand cleaner you posted about a while back? IC cleaner or something like that?

also may be a dumb question but sometimes its the simple things, is it wired for 120/220 and you were on the wrong setting? Not sure which lincoln you have or how its set up.

Edit** was this it?

And here I was going to compliment you on finding a paint that matched that closely. But on second thought, looks like it's time to pull the wood off and shoot the whole thing.
LOL, yeah, that wood has definitely seen better days, as well as the gate. It's kind of a wonky gate, but she'll do for a little longer.

Yes, I.C. hand cleaner. I really like it.... it feels really aggressive when it's on your hands, and it is. It takes grease and dirt off really well. But your hands feel soft afterwards, something you don't find with other mechanic hand cleaners. I usually put about a 1/2 cup of water in it every time I use it - it keeps it a little easier to work in, it does not harden either.

It's a Lincoln SP-100, and it's only 110 and can use gas. I thought it might be the tip, so I cleaned it up really well. Still nothing. I really like it because you can turn down the voltage for thinner metals, whereas my HF has high and low. I had a little problem with it going through the metal on the gate, but was very patient and able to fill it in.

There was some slight rust under the wire spool.... so I am wondering if there's something on this wire now that I can't see.

Well... I got it to work. User error. The wire is live 100% of the time on my HF welder. On the Lincoln, the wire is live only when the trigger is pulled. My Dad said "you are pulling the trigger, right?". DOH! I had totally forgotten about the feature/characteristic of the Lincoln.

Whitey....that's the way my Century is. It works with the trigger only. G\lad you got it figured out.

Red's parts are ready to go on finally. I still need to wash and clean the bumper but now the tops is on so it can all be washed and buffed out. The new grille itself is so much bigger than the 97-98 centers I'm going to go with the black sponge to get the oem dark color back. Should look okay

When you mean live all the time, the second the wire in the gun touches metal it starts to arc? Interesting as my HF welder is like your dads lincoln in that I have to pull the trigger to get it to start arcing. You may have a faulty HF tool (shocking I know lol)

Hey like I said its sometimes the simple things lol. At least now you know why it didnt work lol

Yes, the POS HF is live all the time. It is one of these piles of junk.

This is one of the few things HF sells that I think is fantastic. But, it could use some improvements when you get them. The pins are just pins... no way to know where you are exactly. So I welded some positive stops (or whatever you want to call it). And since I am always needing to move it, I put some casters on it too.

Mine is the 90A, and I think that the current lowest is 100A. Several times now my Dad has told me "the Lincoln will be yours some day", so I have negated buying a new one. I've read a lot of good things about the Titanium's from HF though, so I might need to buy one for the interim.
