Since we are all home sitting doing squat, I decided yesterday to work inside Red. While I was playing around I was playing with the SOTF switch and remembered that it was slow on first time engagement. I found that the engagement motor is really really slow on first power up. I went on to Rock Auto and found a Cardone for 90 plus core, and a Motorcraft for 160. Hmm.

So while watching TV last night I got a burr up my butt and went looking for a new shift motor. I found a NEW Ford one on eBay for 60 shipped, so I snatched that bad boy up. I'll go ahead and save the take out for another day, maybe even replace the brushes inside, now that I have a new one coming. He marked it as a reman carrying the Cardone number, but in this case, this is a new motor, carrying the oem Ford numbers. Not a reman as he stated. Feeling kind of lucky right now, lol.

Both the trucks have SOTF, so having a spare motor wouldn't be a bad thing. LOL I did notice that Ford changed to a 2000 model number so they must of done something to the 97-99 motor to give it a new number. Hell, mine is original so after 21 model years, a new motor for the transfer case isn't out of order. lol

Could it be the wear tabs on the brake pads ?
I know they will squeal until you apply the brakes when they are contacting the rotor.

Thanks for all the congrats fella's! I guess they are checking out. Said the food was terrible there,- however, they were able to order from i-hop and burger king, delivered to their room. That's a new one ehh...

Walmart and Meijer have a "deliver to you door" deal going on now, not sure if Kroger is following suite yet. We went on Meijers site, last week I think it was, they were "out of stock" on most of their popular stuff. Perhaps they'll get a better system going in the future. It's a great idea, It could work, and knock the exposure rate way down. Now if supply and demand would just get back to normal...

Anyway, thanks again!

The Wife just submitted an order to Walmart last night... says it'll take 24 to 48 hours to deliver here, even though it's like 2 miles from me, LOL. Not sure if all of yours have the same thing.

I've not done a delivery service (we live too far out) but I did do a Target pick-up order one evening from last week. I drove to the store the next day, tapped the "I'm here" button in the app, and a guy came out less than two minutes later with my bag. He scanned the bar code on my phone, put the bag in the trunk, and I was on my way. He never got less than two arm lengths from me. Come to think about it, he probably could've zapped the bar code through the window.

New stuff for the garage.... I have 4 of these lights already, and I want to go a little brighter. For only 45 Watts each, they do a fantastic job!

Kroger does the same thing as target does. The pick up thing. I’m not sure what target calls it but at Kroger it is Clicklist. Pretty nice and convienient. The one thing I like about Kroger is they will make it right with the customer. Like if they don’t have the right size of product, but have the exact same thing in a bigger size then they will swap it for the bigger size and you won’t pay anything more for it. Also if you have to wait more than 20-25 minutes they will take $10-$15 off your total for the inconvenience. And the total cost for Kroger is $5 extra. Beats the heck out of dealing with all the gross unhygienic people inside.

I'm going to have to look in to this but the brake pads were replaced 6 months ago and I haven't had any problems since until now. thanks.

EDIT: The new brakes have less than 500 miles on them.

Rivers......how about the brake booster check valve or that hose? They certainly can whistle. The booster could also be your culprit. It could be internally damaged and maybe causing the sound by bypassing a bit. Just spitballing. One other thing that make a whistle could be the purge canister.

Visually the booster appears fine but I do accept the limits of a visual check. There's no brake fluid leak between the master cylinder and the booster. I'm not getting any rpm change when pressing the brake pedal when in park and at idle. Both are usually an indication of a booster vacuum leak. I didn't look at the check valve so that's on the list now. I didn't even think about the purge canister because of the effect from the brake pedal. It's not running rough and the CEL isn't on. It's suppose to stop raining tomorrow so I can get at this.

Do you know what type of booster the 08 Edge has? Is there always a pressure differential separated by the diaphragm or is there only a differential when the pedal is pushed?

How loud this is, is a new one. Since inheriting the car 6 years ago it's done nothing but mostly sit and I think that's beginning to come back and bite. Thanks AK.
