Had to look that one up, LOL. I thought we were dealing with a flip phone for a minute.....
lol, I was fine with my flip phone. I thought it was great and to me, my phone is just a phone and part time texting thing. I have this phone because Sprint bought Metro which is what I had and I was forced to buy a new phone and this one is the best deal they had. I'm totally serious about the battery though. It's still the original battery and when I charge the battery the phone is good for at least 5 days and I'm really good with that.
The first time I bought a new battery for a phone was also my first experience with ebay. We were using Nextel back then where the phones were both 2 way radios and phones. Anyone, someone advised me to look at ebay for a battery because the battery's cost 60 lbs. or around $100 at the time. On ebay the battery was less than $10 with 99 cents shipping. Thinking I couldn't go wrong at that price if the battery only lasts a year, I'm still ahead so I ordered a battery. After about a month of charging my phone 2 or 3 times a day and still not having a battery I went and bought a new battery and had a low opinion of ebay. About another 6 weeks later the battery shows up and it came from some ****zing, China. I didn't read everything and there it was when I took the time to read everything. Then I find out that about half the time I waited it was sitting in HM Customs and Excise even though there was no tariff or value added tax on the battery. I was pissed at ebay and doing a good job of trashing them when the opportunity was available and I did it to myself all along. I read everything now.
I still have the iPhone I had before that. Cracked the face plate, never got it fixed. Had many Nextel's, could never get those to last very long. But this old S-Flip I still have has taken a beating, original battery as well. I don't play on phones much, not interested enough to update. When I do, I'll look for one with really big buttons...old fart style
I was on my way to the gas station and Subway and the Edge finally didn't recover from that stall moment. My fault because I put it off but you were right on with your diagnosis. Cut back the Red heat shrink on the positive cable and found dirty brown wire covered with oxidized, dead ions. (I really have no idea on that) I didn't bother with the negative cable yet but I assume it will be the same. As I could have expected, my portable starter battery was also dead and the car is in a place where I can't jump it. lol I earned this one.
Also spoke to my sister a little earlier and she reminded me that all the sprint users in the area had to get new phones between 4 and 5 years ago. Totally slipped my mind but it's still a damn good battery.
And since I'm on the subject, a while back I mentioned a neighbor that uses her I Pad as her phone and that she had told me she does that because she said it's also for games and movies. I talked to her over the holidays about that and she said it's true she does use the I Pad like that but that she wasn't being serious. She does it because she has to. She's a senior at the local Catholic High School and rather than buying textbooks like they use to, they buy access to interactive textbooks through their I pads. It costs about a third as much as the actual books. The classes also have working groups and they have to participate in scheduled "conferences" with each other with the I Pads. If someone is gone or sick they can still be in class. They also now have a lot of guest lecturers that they can interact with over the I Pad and the teachers are assigned evening hours where they mentor students with their homework over the I Pads. Every student gets an I Pad to keep when they enroll. That's not the High School experience I remember.
Speaking of phones... I just put a new screen and a new charge port board on my old S7. The charge port board also contains the back button, and whatever you call the button with a square. I had to replace that board because Samsung puts adhesive on both sides of the buttons, and it tore the ribbon cable when I removed the broken screen. Anyway, just got it back together and everything works BUT the brand new back button. It must be defective. I ordered a spare board, but there's a good chance that the new screen will get damaged when I pull this back apart.
Trying to decide if I just go get my Wife a new phone, or fix it. She needs a new phone pretty bad.
Luckily I ordered two boards. As soon as I typed that last message, I hurried and took the S7 back apart. Replaced the board again and all is well. I also had forgotten that the buttons were backlit which did not work on either.
Either way, it's good. I need to do a reset on it then hand it over. She has a J3 right now which is about the equivalent of an S2.
EDIT: Inside the S7. That tiny board on the bottom is the charger board.... also runs the bottom buttons and the headphone jack. I found it weird how the speaker worked. It projects out on that triangular screen/cloth thingy a little left of the charge port.
