no lol, too many projects going on lol. Im no where near worrying about heat on the highboy yet! Currently putting the front axle back together and getting ready to put it under the truck. I sometimes ask escape questions here cz like 2 or 3 other thinkers have escapes as well. Plus the general knowledge of the thinkers is unmatched. I thought it was odd when you typed '76 manuals but just figured it was a typo or something.

Unfortunately for the 10th gen shop manuals, mine at least, they show stylized drawings of the doors for heat and AC flow for the different control settings but they don't show any actual drawings or part numbers for the components that move the doors. That is unless they have them in another part of the manuals other than heating, AC or climate control. For the 75\76 manuals there is a valve shown the controls how much coolant is going through the heater core depending on settings. Was thinking that might be your problem but obviously not. lol

EDIT: Any chance that if the heater and fan were running that might give the doors a boost and help with moving the linkage? Yep, understand the need for escapes too.

2100, My 06 is the same way. In fact, the incremental works so poorly that if I am going from cool to warm, I go all the way to max heat, then back to the middle. I've owned it since it was 2 years old, and it's always done that. The 2011 though, that's got a MUCH more sophisticated system. Ford fixed a lot of their stupidity... or, maybe it's Mazda's idea. Either way, the first gens sucked in that department.

BTW, I've seen other people complain about the exact same thing. They also ALL make a little popping/creaking sound in the dash when they are going down the road by the drivers side vent, closest to the door. Annoying as hell. I've got a 10 spot saying your does it too.

I've got a 100 spot that says mine doesn't! Of course I have no heat or AC!

Excape? No. It's a 1999, F150. There's just no heat or AC in it. Maybe in the future, but not now. lol

2100, did you replace the thermostat yet? That was what caused mine. It was getting stuck open. But the gauge always looked normal.... then, luckily, mine threw a code that it wasn't getting all the way to temp.

If you look here, you can see where mine was catching. It appeared to me that the plastic housing had become slightly warped.

yeah i replaced the t stat when i first started fighting this (2 winters ago? maybe last winter?) flushed the heater core multiple multiple times. both ways and got good flow out of it, never got a bunch of crap to come out. (my two off the wall thoughts were the like back half of the heater core is clogged which is why i get good flow but no heat, or there is a blockage in the line after the heater core causing it not too flow well). I think last winter i got like 80/90 degree after flushing it but that couldve just been a warmer day i tested so it was easier to get warmer.
