This is my Cobalt set....

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauke...2338/304198711

I have a bit sharpener that is still in the package too, LOL. I have a crap load of black oxide bits that were my Grandfathers, or my FIL's (I got a lot from both). I got the sharpener for those bits to have a new life.

Those are nice. But they're M35's which means they are cobalt coated. They aren't solid which means you'll sharpen or wear the cobalt off them. That's the difference between M35 and M42. M42's are solid cobalt. In case your unaware. I have some Bosch bits like that.

Yea I've got Irwin, Makita sets as well lol. Like I said , seems like I purchased those crazy like until buying a set of M42's. The M35's are second best tho. If it doesn't say M42 on the package or description, they coated cobalt M35's.

What do you use for a drill motor white ? I use the little 1/4" dewalt 20v impact just about for everything,

Amazon Amazon

To run my M42 set, I have to use a chuck with it..a Makita chuck, -

That's pretty much my go to. I use a Milwaukee right angle attachment when warranted.

Drilling steel I still fall back to a corded Milwaukee or Ryobi drill press.

Sorry, I fell asleep right after my last post. Slept like $4!t too.... I hate DST.

I'm going to use my DeWalt 1/4" impact too. For my basement I used my DeWalt drill and my Ryobi drill.... Depending on how much space I had (The Ryobi is smaller in size).

Speaking of my DeWalt drill.... I love the drill, but HATE the chuck it came with. Not too sure why they didn't just put a Jacobs chuck on it. Have any of you swapped the chuck on a DeWalt drill yet?

Oh yea, I remember those days. Dirt bikes, dune buggies and sand rails from Sleeping Bear up in to the Leelanau Peninsula pre the National Lakeshore putting an end to it all. Fun times. Feels better knowing Muskegon didn't come from oldtimers mixing memories up.

DST, Daylight Savings Time lol ?

The Makita speed chucks (like the one I posted) are the best I've used...yes, better than jacobs. Never needed a key with it, durable never slips, jams and it's fast. 1/4" x 3/8. The only bad thing I can say about them is that they are a tad on the heavy side.

Finding a chuck replacement might be difficult for that dewalt, not sure. I haven't had good luck swapping chucks on cordless drills in the past.
