If you're talking about what I think you are I go through this all the time for about the first 15 minutes I'm on line. I disconnect from the internet and then reconnect and it comes back connected and doing what it should be. When I disconnect one of two things will happen. First if the screen goes to you're not connected to the internet then reconnecting solves the problem. Second, if the screen stays on the same page and I'm just disconnected then reconnecting doesn't fix whatever is going on.
Do you have a VPN you are using? My VPN client will randomly try to connect without me initiating it... that results in a dropped connection because I have not selected a location.
OK, my 3 year old granddaughter, almost 4 as she'll let know, wants a puppy for Christmas but parents say no. Any suggestions for Santa around this one?
If the parents say "no," then that's a stopper in my book, especially if she's only "almost four," and the 'rents will be responsible for the dog. Maybe *you* could get the puppy, and she'd have reason to visit more often.

Actually I don't know. I know there's something about VPN somewhere in the settings or "?" but I don't really know what it is and it's not something I've chosen but that doesn't mean I don't have VPN. I always thought the slowdown was because of all the different sites that show up when first starting the computer and the bandwidth they eat up. I came to this conclusion by looking at the resource monitor and seeing HP, MS, Intel, various programs I have, etc. all going for access to my computer. And there is the "GPU" graph that is always maxed out or near too it. I've tried playing with it to see if I could effect this some how to stop what seems to be a competition for bandwidth with no luck. After about 15 minutes the it all settles down except for the GPU which is always way up there. Am I making any sense? Also under "Component Services" I get a lot of warnings and failed showing up and retrying to do whatever it is that the warnings and failures are about. I've given up on trying to figure it out and I accept this to be what it is.

LOL! No doubt the no is a stopper. I already have a dog and she's a big part of the want for the dog. 4 is a problem I agree but I think if she were 16 the parents would still say no. They have no problem with pets as long as they belong to someone else. I considered a gerbil or similar being a more manageable pet but they wouldn't agree to this alternative anymore than a puppy. BYUTV has a program that is nothing but the filming of puppies and she never misses it. She will even DVR the show and watch it over and over. I'd like to find some compromise but I can't think of anything.
I've noticed people using Rivers which is fine. I used the 1 because River was taken but I thought I'd look River up. One post in 2012 but I was surprised to see 631 pages of "R". Then I saw this site has 322,933 members. Didn't expect that. Busy site.

Rivers isn't too bad; trust me , you can always be called worse.
SOB'n file transfer from one NAS to the other is taking FOR DAMN EVER. Already been going for 26 hours.... and still counting....
I also have an old DSL router that I re-purposed as a switch, and a second WiFi channel that I am going to take out of service. I had 4 devices that could not see my Linksys WiFi router, so that was my reasoning for reconfiguring the old DSL router.... anyway, now that I have REAL WiFi, I am going to de-commission the old router. I went with one of the new TP-Link TL-SG108v3's to put in its place. Bad assery abound....
