Yeah River, that ether guy started a new thread too. I admittedly had them mixed up at one point. When you get two people not listening at the same time, they become one, LOL.
And they are plentiful as of late. Seems like they come in waves too
Has anyone rehab'd or refurbished their cherry picker, hoist or whatever your regional name for the thing is? I've got to do something about mine. I was sore enough as it is because of the last couple of days and this thing has just been beating me up this morning. Get it moving and it's got a mind of it's own. Every bolt and pin hole is oversized and wow'd. The casters are spread out like a new born giraffe. It's a mess.
I called the last local jobber machine shop that's local and his estimate to mill all the holes, weld in some chrome molly tube as inserts to act as bushings to realign everything back in place and basically tighten everything back up was enough that I could buy 2 Chinese imports. The last thing I want is to start buying new tools with the plans to spend some time on the road starting in the spring. I've got to do something with this thing though or get a new one. The only tool I have for the job is a mediocre half inch floor drill press and I don't want to make the darn thing worse than it is.
If anyone has done something that works to fix or repair theirs I'm all ears for some advice.

Hopefully Maniack is obstinate and motivated enough now to prove to everyone how wrong I am and starts taking your advice and help to heart. And hopefully he's done with explaining, rationalizing and defending the indefensible. Like using 93 octane gas in his truck because that's what recommended for his lawnmower. Good grief Charlie Brown, Lucy's going to pull the ball away. That seems to sum it up well.
I have not repaired one, but I have modified mine to go about 2.5 inches longer on the boom. To put a motor in one of the F150's, it makes it much easier.

My God White, there's a chip in your driveway. LOL Lots of imogee to choose for this but I'm disappointed about the clap. I thought for sure I had just scored a touch down but I only got the clap!
I don't have any problem with length but the front clip is off too. I'm not sure I see how you extended yours though. No doubt someone in the future is going to say they need a longer boom and they'll remember this post of yours.
About mine though, see how the drop legs fit in to the channel? I can get about 3 to 4 inches of play on each leg in each direction at the end of the leg. Usually when I try to put the lock down pin in I have to use a crow bar to lift the hoist under the center or front cross support. They're so far out of alignment the taper on the pin doesn't even touch the hole unless the hoist is sitting just right on uneven ground. The boom pivot point is loose enough that it makes using the boom interesting. I'm flattering myself with interesting. It's more scary in too many situations. The boom can have a roll to it at times where it looks like it's not going to stop. The casters are the worst though. There is so much space at the bearings that the top and bottom halves of the bearing are at different angles to the ground and there's always one or two that lock up. I have a 7 foot pry bar I keep handy when using the hoist. I don't have it in me to force it to move by myself anymore. This is the big stuff anyway. As much as I dislike Harbor Freight I'm going to head there shortly. 35 years ago this was a good, American made hoist. It might become part of the chassis soon?
Since I'm on the subject of hoists I also would like some opinions on using a leveler with a Coyote. My concerns are these; The heads are so wide and everything on top is plastic I'm not confident about the best way of using an engine leveler with the engine. Just to make sure there's understanding about the type I'm talking about this is it. I'm considering a support bar also???
The one I have is a clone of this style. The metal angles at the ends of the chain IMO didn't work all that well with the modulars. If the exhaust manifold studs are used for lifting, the metal angles force the chain to aggressively dig in to the heads at some point because of the way the chain has to wrap around them. These chains are too short to grab both sides of the engine anyway so I'm figuring some straps are in my future also. I have plenty of chain to replace these but lengthening the chains doesn't avoid the stress on me as I imagine what the chains could to the heads, covers, fuel rail, etc.
So any suggestions on how anyone would use a leveler with a Coyote please share your thoughts.
I modification is inside the boom... on the black tube, so it is not visible unless I extend it out all the way.
LOL... that chip was there when I moved in. Wasn't done on my watch, LOL.
You should show your work. (sounds like a high school math teacher lol) Someone is going to want a longer boom and will be looking for ideas. Or, someone will one day realize they don't have to live with the way things are if you give this some daylight. Literally!
"I swear officer, I only had one!"
Just caught your AGT edit. I'm not surprised by it. Must be something in the water because the SLC area seems to be a hub for talents in the arts. They're even still playing the Osmonds on the classic pop station. My 17 year old granddaughter wants to be a singer\actor and she thinks the Osmonds are great.

I have the 9099, haven't done much with it unfortunately other than pinning the bed to the rafters above...up and out of the way lol.
What was nice is I could load the bed up with parts, levels easily, crank it back up to the rafters.
