That is hilarious as hell. Of course it would be funnier to watch that bumper get yanked off the truck when it pulls something slightly heavy or up a hill. That would be worth a YouTube video. LOL

Just my opinion but being kind, that's horrendous. It would be easy to be unkind. The sine of 90 degrees is 1. Multiply that by approximately 12 for 1 foot and the force multiplier on the bumper is an even 12. The bending moment is the same. The bumper is carrying 12 times the tongue weight. Assuming the tongue weight is 100 lbs, it's now 1,200 lbs. The force multiple requires a dependent variable for an acceleration X 12 on the tongue to estimate a total, 1,200 x (9.8x mps x 12), but I think everyone gets the picture. The weight on the trucks rear tires in a turn is the same plus being multiplied by the cosine of the turns bank angle and speed. Not all sprung weight is created equal outside of the 4 tires. LOL

Well I wish you better than the Lions falling apart now as expected. What's it like to root for an NFL winner. I've never had the experience.

The tongue weight on the bumper is actually *decreased* since the distance from the wheels (the pivot point) to the bumper is longer. The torsional force, though, on the bumper is much greater than it is designed for, significantly reducing its load-bearing capacity.

Any way you slice it, if the guy is pulling much more than a utility cart, he's asking for trouble.

That said, I'd love to see the video when he hooks up a TT and cranks up the tounge jack.

You could change teams... like Tim Allen.

(Home Improvement = Lions / Last Man Standing = Broncos)

I see what you're saying but I'm referring to the tongue weight on the hitch, not the weight on the trailer. The physics behind it is the same as it would be on a static cantilevered beam. The longer the cantilever the more the force applied to the mounting point which is not the ball in this case. It's the bolt through the bumper plus the distance to of the ball minus the sine of the angle between the bumper height and the height of the ball center. Minus here since the ball center is higher than the mounting point. I just left this out previously. Basically it's a longer lever angled up. There's a lot more going on here but this is the gist of it.

EDIT: Again, I don't mean to get odd but I looked up tongue weight to make sure I'm not forgetting something and everything says tongue weight is the weight at the coupling point. The coupling point is the point where the trailer tongue pivots for turning. Tongue weight and tongue length can definitely effect weight distribution to the axles. Semi's do this everyday but that's all about rolling weight distribution which is all about suspension and doesn't have any effect on the static measurement of tongue weight without redistributing the trailer load. Actually I guess you could say that in the picture there is a tongue coupling to a tongue.

But, but, but they WON!!!!!! Can't quit on a winning team. Not on this day anyway!

Lions fans will momentarily turn their back to Tim Allen. Besides, Tim Allen is known for being reckless.

He was himself in Home Improvement. God only knows who he is in Last Man Standing.

Barely is pretty normal for the Hawks yet they win most of them.

Why do so many people leave out where they're from. I don't mean addresses but states might help. I have a bunch of new, oem parts for the 4.2 I'm willing to give away to someone in need but god only knows where people are at! I have parts like 2 new, box never opened passenger side heads and oem headers never offered for cars and trucks, from Ford Power Div. 3 more new but out of the box because they've been blueprinted. I can help with a good deal on drivers side if needed. I have no use for them and I've never ran into anyone around here interested in 4.2 parts. I got them from a shop that went out of business because the owner retired and his kids weren't interested in the business. I took the parts off the guys hands for about 3 cents on the dollar. If you know of anyone. . .
