AK.... looks nice. What did you use for the heat shield? And maybe an even better question is... who, or what the hell is this? Looks like an alligator in a red suit is standing in front of that truck, LOL.
It's Mr Toad. It's a big Frog that stands on his little bridge. It gets some strange looks when people first see it. It's been painted a couple times and still looks good. The owner of him is a real ........ piece of work, LOL.
I used a factory mat and added this heat reflecting material from Ebay. It has a sticky back and once set, cuts easily to mold to corners, etc. It was about 20 for the sheet of sound/heat deadener.
Since I have a 98, the hood isn't drilled correctly for the mat. Ford uses some big holes in the first 2 years, so finding plastic retainers to fit is a bit of a challenge. I ended up taking the retainers I got with the pad, and cut off the tabs on the back. I then took each and drilled holes to accept the new retainers. This worked like a champ. If you look close in the pics, you can see my creations. LOL

I don't know if I have mentioned it on here, but I have some spotty Wi-Fi coverage at my house. I decided to bite the bullet and buy some Access Points instead of using my router for Wifi. I got a couple of WAP's on the way (one for upstairs, one for downstairs) and a 16 port POE switch. The nice thing about this is, I can add WAP's if these two don't give me what I need. There is also an outdoor version if I decide to put one out there (garage?).

GEEZ book time for this alternator is 7.8hrs
Cv axle removed, transfercase cover removed pto shaft removed some other cover removed... called to get estimates from 3 different shops and every guy as soon as he asked me front wheel or 4x4 said "oh ****" yeah they all are wanting $1000 to do this. Our temps this week are mid 90s with heat index's of 100-110s and humidity 70-90%.... looks like it's time to just buy the wife a new vehicle LOL
At least the new battery got the car back home to my parents house, we're down here for another week but then our house is 3hrs away.
I got that much. It was the WAP's, 16 port POE switch, access points. If I go in the yard my lap top works but step inside the garage and it dies. Kind of thought you'd explain a little more
WAP = Wireless Access Point, also known as AP or Access Point.
POE = Power Over Ethernet... so there is power going through the ethernet cable powering POE compatible devices.
You can have one or more WAP's working together as a MESH network, so you basically get way more coverage on the same network. Like so:
What would I have to do to get my laptop to work in the detached garage? It's about 60 feet. I tried an antenna from Amazon. It was a little better but still not dependable. My Ford VCM didn't work in the garage. I had to put the vehicle in the driveway and it worked fine but it was then weather restricted. Also excuse my ignorance. I still have no idea of what you're referring to. I understand what a network is but I'm lost with the rest.
EDIT: I have Wi-Fi in the house but outside the farther I am from the house the less reliable it gets. The cable and house telephone all run on the same system so I can't move the boxes.
Well, when you set up access points, you shut off the Wifi on your router or they can cause issues.... but honestly, the router won't be needed at all if you do this right. I currently have what I believe you are referring to as "antennas" (wifi extenders), and they made it a little bit better. WAP's are a TRUE wifi source instead of being a booster. You can manage them with software, and I also believe there is an app. You can add several (not sure if there is a cap), but these are about the best you'll find for the money. I am normally a Cisco only guy, but their WAP (wireless access point) prices are through the roof. I can buy 4 or 5 of these TP Link's for the price of one Cisco/Meraki.
This what I di. I added a 50ft ethernet cable from my main router to my outside porch. There I added a second router and I have a separate wifi signal out there and in the house. Makes it nice to have a signal at the vehicles so I can use my laptop. Makes updating my Android car heads simple and the GPS updates easy.
I was told this wouldn't work but has been going strong almost 3 years so far.
