I paid 75 dollars for the windshield in the Expy. It's a PPG.

Years ago, I was in the windshield business. I delivered them and picked up broken windshields for all of the major players in town. Mostly delivered Carlite (which were picked up from LOF), LOF, and PPG.

White....was the 75 for you to install or them? Either way, what a buy in this day in age.

We have TransAmerica and another glass warehouse up here now. It's like everything else. You get used to one name, next week another corporation has their name on the trucks. I'm sure that's common all over the US.

Bear. You must not have much gravel in your area. We do. I have a big crack across the bottom of Blue, and a crack up the right side and back down on lil Red. Up here, if a windshield isn't cracked or dinged heavily, you aren't driving your car. Cracked glass is a way of life in Alaska.

It's going to be close to 300 for mine by Ford. All that I trust to do the job correctly. Unless the installers from 3rd party really know what they are doing. I talked to one in the past that knew nothing about Ford windshield problems and they didn't use window weld, just some kind of heat strip. There's a few things Ford does different, I believe there's a TSB. They no longer use Ford butyl, but use 3M window weld. They also fix the cab overlap just under the front fenders. Pillar is fixed (leak point) and overlaps are redone (another leak point) before the install. Then they use the 3M window weld.

I pointed this out in another thread, but don't have the link since I lost my operating system a month ago darnet it all to hell. I keep running into little things I missing lol. Anyway, I welded up the overlaps where mine was leaking and so far my pillars aren't haven't leaked. Both overlaps did though. Drivers and passenger side, fixed those up, no leaks since.

True- not so much- very few gravel roads, and they are rural farm roads-even our secondary roads are paved- most rock damage is from dump truck traffic!

They came to my house and did it. That said though, I had to have them come back out and fix the leak that got my GEM wet. He kept giving me BS about it, but no more leak.
