Those old popcorn poppers are hard as hell to beat. My buddy has a 440 wheel loader with the same engine and powertrain. Just wheels instead of tracks. lol. The hydraulics on these old units are stout. They can pickup a lot, considering their age and power. I really like these old units. I also like the Case machines with the 188/207 diesel motors. Workhorse units.

This wasnt dads first 440- when i was a kid- 9-10 yrs old, dad got a 440 diesel dozer in more baskets than mine was!- he restored it and run it after work for a while- it had a 2 cyl detroit diesel in it- had the little blower on the side!- tracks and track frame was good, everything else was in pieces!!! It ended up being a good little machine- but dad sold it just before he and mom divorced.

a 2v53 eh? Those old Detroits were decent engines. I just hated having to have model and spec to find any parts for the damn things. lol

We were talking the other night, kinda going over the old days, dad said some thing then that there was a part on that detroit that he had to machine out a new one cause it was nearly impossible THEN to find one- something in the fuel system- but he didnt recall just what it was.(dad will be 80 in Feb.)

I understand that. I worked for a Detroit/Allison shop when I was working for GM. I was transferred over to the truck center for a year to run the inventory and parts section. I later went to another Detroit shop, that bought us out. Fun days during the pipeline building times.

I can only imagine!- the size and scope of the projects, the massive amounts of equipment, the influx of all the people to make everything go, the supplies, the logistics- and the money involved in all aspects of it!!! Mind numbing!

That's probably the line of the day right there JP.

Good night guys.
Good morning yall. That very well may be the line of the times right now. It will stabilize after everyone realizes he isn't going to set fire to the white house but I hope they don't realize it before it's too late.

Good morning JP- you are correct, it will settle out- if the new prez starts accomplishing the economic goals he talked about, it will do better than that.
