Default Engine Builders talk.

I forgot this page was here, I've been curious if anybody has any info on where the speedo, tach, and all the gauges receive their information from. I'm tossing around a coyote swap and I'm not sure what all will be able to stay in the truck and what all will have to go.

Hmm that is a conundrum. I know you could get digital gauges through the obd

Yeah the tuner would let me read everything but the speedo I think. So speedo and odo are my main concerns. Basically I want to remove only what's necessary to run the 5.4 and trans then replace it with the ECU and a stand alone digital trans controller.

I was going to just build the 4R70W to hold it and roll on so I don't have to mess with the cross member

Why wouldnt the tuner read the speedo? I figured that if torque could do it a tuner could.

The trans controller will be separate from the ECU so neither the trans or engine will have anything to do with each other, electronically

Yeah the 4r70 would be less complicated, I'm looking at getting another F150 so we will see what it brings. either looking at the coyote swap or a 76mm turbo 5.4 2v.

Wouldnt the trans still have a speed sensor output though?
