I dump mine in the center council if i have to disarm. But in reality nothing you do will stop a halfway decent criminal, they will just do more damage to your truck taking it. I used to use a small vault but when i lost the key to the damn thing i found out how easy it is to just cut the cable, breaking into it took nothing more than 2 8" pry bars.

I like that holster mount, i would like something like that on the forward lower portion on the outside of the center council to increase accessibility while in motion.

That is a significant difference, though...when you take extra steps to secure the gun, in order to steal it in a reasonable timeframe one needs tools. It's not just a smash and grab with a rock or brick or maybe a basic screwdriver. That alone is worth the effort IMO. Make them cart around obvious "burglar tools" like pry bars or cable cutters, and have them at hand when they get to your truck. And of course try not to give them any reason to think you have a firearm in the truck to begin with (that's really the best defense obviously).

it took me less than 5 seconds and a small bolt cutter set that you could hide anywhere and are often carried by criminals to take audio equipment. Most efforts may stop the neighborhood dip****, its not going to stop anyone that has experience. Hell in Detroit they don't even bother breaking in, they just take the whole vehicle and if your lucky the police will find it stripped some where.. The best defense is hiding it so its not located, but where that easy to disarm without tearing half the truck apart or being obvious.

i love to walk by a parked truck and see a big Glock or Sig decal....especially if its at a location that you can't conceal carry at...makes you wonder what they have in the glovebox,,,LOL

Hmmm. IDK. I live in America. I don't need or want a permit to carry my firearms. I just wear it on my side like a normal red meat eating man. Why hide it ?

Don't care for that much attention...from all types. Get tired of the associated hyper-vigilance that comes with an openly carried firearm in a heavily populated area. Can't watch every person as a possible gun grabber (they are out there...it happens) and watch small children all at the same time, that's just not happening

Obviously your AO may vary...perhaps considerably.

Easy there, big fella. Bad guy sees your open-carry. He makes you his first target and gets the jump on you. I’m concealed carry, watch him shoot you, then I shoot him, because he didn’t know I was carrying.

That’s the short version of a long story, and I’m really not interested in arguing with you about it, because we’re all entitled to our own opinions. But the fact of the matter is, we live in a society where we’re all judged, and I’m not particularly concerned with how I’m judged, but however... no one needs to know I’m carrying. That sense of security is for me, not them. And more importantly, I prefer the element of surprise and to be underestimated, it’s proven to be quite beneficial.

I’m a huge fan of Springfields too, and own several. The XDM compact (in 9mm) was the one pistol I regret not buying. I opted for the successor, the XD Mod.2 (3.3”, 9mm). Probably my most favorite pistol to shoot, of all my Springfields and other brands too. But I just saw on Springfield’s facebook page that they’re running a special deal on the Defender Series XD 3” compacts (9mm, double stack, striker fire) for $339! This one looks ALOT like the old XDM, even the grips, the front of the trigger guard, and just about everything else, and I haven’t really looked into them too much, but initially, it looks VERY comparable, but at an awesome price. I think I’m going to go ahead and get one, just because of the deal, they’re normally about $150 higher. Any idea what’s different on the original XDM, other than the barrel length, everything else appears to be the same. Here’s a link if you want to check it out too...

I've had the lock box that attaches to the seat with a cable and it cost me (my wife) a Shield. On mine they simply cut the cable. I even found the box broken open further back in our apartment complex parking lot with the lock punched open. I don't have one, but I would use a console vault.
