As for Mr. Arkansas open carry person- not every state is an open carry. Florida for example is not, you'll get arrested.
I found that yesterday and was going back and forth between the Tuffy and the E&G. Tuffy was a lot cheaper, but the E&G is better designed IMHO since the hinges are concealed and it's a complete box. I also like the fact I won't have to remove the tray every time I open it like I would with the Tuffy.

If I am in my truck.. my firearm is most likely on already my person.

For this annoying instances where I am FORCED to release myself of my weapon, I have a combo safe that fits nicely under my seat, hooked to a carbide cable, where I store it when I have to.

There are a multitude of those cable safes available on the internet.

The E&G Flow Through Console Vault arrived today. Install was pretty straight forward, but it would have been nicer to have some longer mounting screws. It was a PITA to get all 4 bolts threaded. But besides that I'm pretty impressed. The factory console tray is a snug fit and prevents it from moving which I like. The concealed hinge is nice and the latch is robust. Still trying to figure out how I am going to mount my EDC inside the vault, but until that happens, I lined it with some velcro dividers from a range bag that I had. Perfect fit and it'll work for now.

My vault finally got here yesterday but I am not going to mount for a few days. Since I use Sticky holsters for my cc I have used these in my last few vehicles. I just keep the holster on my side and mount this in the console when I need to lock it away. Mounts with a huge velcro pad and you can tilt as you like.

That's a great solution and wish I would have seen it earlier. I found a 2 pack of gun magnet mounts on Amazon by Rymmes for $28. They are super strong and holds my pistol very securely, but it does take quite a bit of force to draw it. It will definitely take some getting used to. Put one in the vault to hold the pistol in a position I can easily get a grip on and one under the drivers seat to conceal it but still be easily accessible when driving.

For the one in the 'open' I'd try to find a holster you can mount to the interior so that you can safely leave a round in the chamber
