I, too, have a magnet. Only mine is inside the console. Works great. Hidden. I largely use it only when at the Post Office picking up my mail. Otherwise my pistol is on my hip.

I use a Gum Creek set up that mounts under the steering wheel with tension straps. It goes between my knees within easy reach.

Last truck i had i used an old holster that didnt "fit" me well. Bolted to the inside of my console.

Please dont use a magnet. If you can knock it off with your hand, it will fly around during a crash. Yes, i keep almost everything in the center console. I got in a wreck 2 years ago driving 22 mph and everything that was loose turned into small bombs.

The magnet I use you have to physically grab and pull with some effort to get the gun to break free. I'm not worried about it one bit. If it'll hold a 25lb brick of steel it'll hold that little 1lb 11oz Glock securely.

Default In truck secure gun storage ideas

Okay, I tried a search, but didnt come up with much and didnt want to take over the official gun thread. I am looking for ideas for SECURE gun storage in my '18 SCREW.

My wife has decided she wants to get her CPL(CCW) and she likes/wants my carry Springfield XDm 3.8 compact. Since they dont make them any more, it means I will get to go gun shopping Her only condition is she wants me to find a way to securely store both our every day carry pistols in the truck when we go somewhere we can't carry. She doesn't like the idea of just putting them in the center console and locking it.

I already know of the console vault, but I'm looking for other ideas as well since I dont like the idea of losing the entire center console.

Would love to see any other gun holster ideas while we're at it. Let's see those pictures!

Unfortunately it seems like the console vault is the best way to go for that.

I took apart the center console lid, and I’d LOVE to see someone make the locking bars and catch plates for the mechanism out of aluminum or steel just to make them more secure.

This is the best I have found:

You still have 1/2 of the center console storage space available and it's much easier to use than a lock box and cable.

look online for one that will find behind or under seat and bolt is to the floor. Safe that is...lol
