Hide it behind the rear seat on the driver’s side.

You still have 1/2 of the center console storage space available and it's much easier to use than a lock box and cable.
That's a great find! Will definitely have to bookmark that.

I have done that in the past. While it does work, I dont think it's the safest option because every time you go store or retrieve the gun you are standing with the door open and with your back exposed. People can see what you're doing and I don't like that. It would be different if I wasn't in/around Detroit so much.

If things are this bad I probably would just move.

But another vote for console vault.

I live in a different city that is very safe. However, when I have to go to Detroit for work or for a baseball/hockey game, I dont have a choice. I have to take the firearm off and store it.

Not a good solution. You would broadcast to the world what you are doing which is an automatic failure.

There does not exist an area where broadcasting that you are leaving handguns in your truck is okay. A lot of places where people park, especially the kinds of places that don't allow guns to be carried, run a serious risk of opportunistic low moral types watching people as they park, picking out who is likely to be leaving something valuable in the vehicle. And sometimes people travel to places other than where they live...

When it comes to storing a CCW gun in your vehicle you really want something that allows you to take it off and stow/secure it without being obvious, or even visible at all, to anybody watching.

The above linked center console vault that only takes up half the console is probably the best option.

I have the Alien Gear Shape Shift and use the IWB for my EDC and was looking into this. Good solution for one firearm, but when my wife wont be using the Shape Shift it becomes a little bit harder for 2 fire arms.
