In a wreck violent enough for the pistol to become a projectile, the projectile would be the last of your concerns.
I agree. People carry all sorts of things in a vehicle that can become a projectile in the event of an accident.I was involved in an accident back in July. My dashcam footage shows a great example of this. The guy that pulled out in front of me to take a left turn was broadsided by me. A leaf blower flew out of his shattered window and went tumbling down the street. The guy also had a long pruning saw in this little Kia, I don't know how it didn't decapitate him.
Yep, lack of safety! Owned and carried mine since 1972, but that really means nothing for either of us. Everyone that owns one knows that the first thing you must do after pulling that weapon is, release the only active safety with your thumb so it will fire if necessary. At that point, the gun is ready to fire!
Ummm, if you are pulling the gun and releasing the safety, YOU WANT IT READY TO FIRE! If you don't need it ready to fire, you shouldn't be pulling it in the first place.

Most folks, if not the higher percentage folks that have or carry a 1911, IMO, do not take the time to have the barrel polished or make it custom, so yes, if you break your wrist under stress, your gonna have a jam!
Any automatic is subject to limp wrist jamming. If you want to avoid this possibility, carry a revolver.

I’m sure you meant to say “semi-auto” and not “automatic.”
Not trying to be picky but it’s important to be correct on that specific point if only because the media and the ignorant like to use the two interchangeably and give average folks the wrong idea.

Here is how I mounted mine. Bought a kydex holster, drilled a couple holes and secured with nuts and bolts. Easily accecssible if I ever need it, easy in and out of my holsters, and with me in the driver seat its about 95% hidden to anyone. You have to stick your head inside of the driver window and look down to see it.

Yeah, I'd be a little more concerned of my 1800W portable generator launching from the rear floor board. LOL

Don't laugh. I've seen people dead (and pulled them out and put them in a body bag) as a result of unrestrained equipment in both the back seat and the bed killing them. It really does happen, more often than you think.
You read quite a lot into my post. I wasn't asking for you're opinion on safe storage, but you felt you had to give it. I merely asked if the magnets worked. One thing that really pisses me off is for others to tell me how to handle my weapons. You know nothing about me, my background, or my practices; but you automatically assume I am unsafe, and that I will lie to you and tell you I'm not. The magnet is designed for ready access only. How you thought this is where it would be stored is beyond me. How about keeping your judgements to yourself.
Thanks for the mention of the column strap. This also sounds like a decent idea for quick access.
Chief, Neodiymum magents , that are rubber covered work great. I have been using one 2 years now. metal framed semi-auto is secure, never came off/loose unintentionally, firearm finish is preserved. HTH
I find it rather amusing reading posts like these. I’ve been a LEO for 8 years now and I not often needed my firearm. Never shot it other than training. And I run towards the danger every shift.
How many people really need a hand gun or should have a hand gun. I rarely ever hear of someone needing a gun and using it properly when something happens. Usually its just the opposite.

That's the great part about these United States... while the First Amendment guarantees your right to spout your (faulty) opinion, that in no way matters, because my rights to keep and bear arms are protected by the Second Amendment (and affirmed in Heller v. DC). And, assuming you're really LEO, you swore an oath to uphold the Constitution... including 2A.
