Before Ford replaced my bad battery under warranty, I bought this battery charger and it worked great at keeping the battery charged while the updates were being installed.

I have the same one, but the 10amp version. I recommend when you charge; connect the charger on the BCM post as this will tell the computer it's being charged.

Good video on the subject. Also don't forget to reset the BCM when replacing the battery.

How does the fan speed affect charging?

It's forcing the alternator to engage with a heavier load on the system. Invest in a tender, it will maintain battery longevity better than an alternator. Really, alternators are designed to maintain a battery charge, they are not the ideal way to charge a battery. Especially when the battery is very low.

Charging the battery and immediately manually installing the update worked. Thanks!

I can tell you that certain modules do require a "cool down" period after programming where codes/issue go away after a few key cycles (IPMA comes quickly to mind). Maybe after they programmed the CCM, it needed a bit to settle in?
No modules were programmed, they reflashed one as they said it had a VIN error weeks ago, (made things worse) and tried a sensor calibration multiple times over a week apart and it fixed nothing and improved nothing, it was the OTA update, (I pulled into a gas station, all FUBAR, up flashes on the screen that a software update was just completed, middle of a drive, middle of the day, and all issues stopped) all the modules were hard-coded with communication faults that disappeared instantly with the update, and the sensor magically calibrated itself, and within a couple key cycle the lane keeping resolved itself as well, too many coincidences there. I appreciate you looking into this, but there is obviously some info missing from the Oasis report.

Bottom line, problems started minutes after June 26 OTA update, disappeared immediately after the July 27 update - I have updates turned off, no more of that crap for me unless there's a reason, it spoiled owning the truck, and ran out my Bluecruise subscription while it was out of commission as well.

The Platinum's raison d'etre is its features, Ford's ability to impair an otherwise perfect truck for a month at random is really annoying, just like the brick'd Mustang EV that was at the same dealer at the same time.

My new 2024 that I have owned for 1.5 months now has yet to have the GPS work nor can I log into FORD Pass as the truck is not seen by the system. It seems to be related to a TCU fault but the dealer said it is my APIM module. All I know is, I do not want it fixed. All features (with the exception of GPS and FORD Pass) work just fine. I use Android auto so I have maps/routing if I need it via my phone. I am not taking my truck back in to have it fixed. Seems I am not missing anything other than headaches. All of this OTA update crap is only as good as the coders writing it and I think FORD has shown, they have some sloppy QA and average coders-

The one good thing is, I have made friends with the tech at my local dealer and he told me, to call him if I ever want a manual update and he'll hook me up-he sees the frustration from customers 5-10 times a day he said in the last few months.

Unbeleavable - after almost two years, last night, I got my first OTA update ever -- of any kind. Bought truck new in November 2022 and this is my first update

What's in This Update?
Software Update 3.5.3.1
Bluetooth, Comfort, and Control

More seamless device integration with improved Bluetooth, including enhanced Low Battery notifications and Dual Phone support.

Enhanced Projection Services provide a more intuitive connection to CarPlay and Android Auto, with an improved display size and interface.

Our latest Comfort and Control updates focus on reducing distractions with better pop-up timing and clearer HMI text, alongside an improved Auto Hitch screen for your convenience.

Software updates are designed to help make your vehicle better over time.

@rugedraw: Now on SYNC Version 4.0.23115 and Power-Up 3.5.3.1 (although higher than I did have, I wonder why not the current versions)

Would you please look up my VIN and see what is still not updated? 1FTMF1CB4NKE55352
Thank you so much...

Because certain modules on the truck (like the APIM in this case) have to be updated in a certain sequence along with other modules (in this case, the GWM and TCU). It can't be updated to the latest version in one shot.

Good news is, you should have full screen carplay/android auto capability now.

Thanks so much. So, do you see that there are other modules that are out of date? If so, would you think those will be coming at some point -- maybe? Lol For some reason my truck has been stuck, where I have never received an update in two years until last night, (first ever OTA). Thanks for all you do.
