Other than investing in a Mongoose cable and FDRS, there is nothing you can do.

 

I was able to update everything but the driver door system (weird glitch in the script that makes it impossible to run) and the APIM due to “bad USB” issues, so far no matter what I’ve tried. exFAT, 64GB, seems to transfer fine, but it is not accepted by the system and fails every time with a “Bad USB” message. I’ve tried different formatting options (GPT/MBR), different USBs different interfaces… same message every time. I’m hoping there’s a chance the process at least updated the manifest for my truck in the Ford servers. I need to try the open the door and wait 10 minutes thing, which I had on my list but ran out of light.

The driver door module process seems to be broken at the moment. It asks you to shut off the ignition, does some stuff, then asks you to shut off the ignition again — while it’s already off. Any possible permutation of responses to that gets and abort error.

I’ll try again tomorrow.

Post a pic of your entire "about sync" screen. The issue not be the USB drive, but I need to see all the info there to see if your situation can be remedied.

Thank you. Everything I learn about Ford updates comes from you, and it is extremely helpful.

Right now I don't have time for Mongoose and FDRS, so I'll just wait. in a couple of months I will have some time to go that route, if necessary. I appreciate that somehow the Ford company has drifted into a situation where the updates and update process seem to be a disorganized mess, and likely it is hard for Ford people to untangle things. Optimistically, however, perhaps things will improve and regain some semblance of order. Maybe someone there will read The Mythical Man Month (by Fred Brooks Jr), the classic book on organization of software systems. In any event we are, after all, the Ford company's customers, so at some point they will need us again.

 

@rugedraw , having borrowed a Mongoose cable from you and completed updates using FDRS, can you confirm there are no issues preventing my XLT 1FTFW1E82MKD02803 from receiving future OTA updates?

Trailer turn view and the rear view with a wired trailer camera are great, especially the rear view combined with side views on the same screen.

Yea, you're fine. You fully updated, so until new stuff comes out, there are no updates to send you. All you show pending and some door module updates that were recently released in FDRS. I have the same ones showing for my truck, but I haven't done them yet.

 

Thanks. It was updating normally before I did the FDRS thing. I just wanted to make sure I didn't unwittingly interfere with future OTA updates. I'm not concerned with when I actually get them, if they're working normally.
