Nope, truck itself doesn't show an ota update pending install, only the fordpass app is showing it.

I figured. You have to wait for it to be resent. Next time it happens, try this: rive the truck for a good 20-30 minutes in the evening before you park it for the night to charge up the battery a bit. Then, connect it to the charger, lock it and walk away. Schedule the update to install at 4am after the truck has been sitting on the charger for hours. While I cannot guarantee this will 100% make the update go through, it will help.

Shouldn't matter at this point with a new battery I wouldn't think? But I just connected it as usual, positive post and a ground next to the battery. It had no problem charging it up after a few hours and going into trickle mode.

Looks like it's the waiting game for me.

I does make a difference, however you are doing it correctly. The BMS does not know the battery is receiving charge current if the neg lead is on the neg post.

The last time your truck recorded an OTA was 21 months ago and it was the broken update that puts your truck on Sync version 20301. While I cannot explain why the Sync version shows up blank there, I can tell you that without dealer intervention, your truck will most likely never get an OTA sent to it. You need to make an appt with your dealer and tell them you have no OTA's in almost two years and reference TSB 22-2404. They need to manually repair/update your APIM or diagnose it as faulty and replace it with a new one. The member who posted just below your post had his APIM replaced a week ago and already got an OTA sent to him.

I sent a barrage of feedback through the air to Ford every day since I got the new APIM 5 days ago. Rugedraw said it makes no difference but can’t hurt to try but it could be coincidence so who knows. I also set the parking brake like someone suggested. It does sound pretty absurd, but that’s what I did and 5 days later an update.
