[QUOTE=rugedraw;7435492]People have brought up the class action lawsuit several times. Good luck with the super team of lawyers Ford has on retention. It's cheaper, easier and infinitely more productive to just buy the $550 tool you need to fix the truck yourself. The truth is, the current generation F150 is a bad-*** truck and a great product once you get it right. I don't understand the apprehension people have who spend $60k-$75k on a truck and then refuse to invest another couple hundred dollars to overcome Ford's short-comings. Not to mention dealing with the incompetent and/or unwilling dealerships. It's beyond satisfying to not have to depend on a dealer for updates, diagnostics and module calibrations when they are needed. IMO: The Mongoose is worth the price of admission even if your truck doesn't have problems.

I agree a lawsuit would probably end up going nowhere, but the press it would generate would probably make a lot of F150 owners look at their OTA updates, which clearly Ford would not want. I disagree with your mongoose cable comment....at $70K (and much, much more) the updates should just work. That being said, I would not hesitate to buy one myself if I thought it was necessary. Thankfully, my updates are starting to now roll in after you checked my VIN a few weeks ago.

Default Recent update failed

I have an early 2021 and like others have started getting updates over the past couple of weeks. The most recent one has failed to install a couple of days in a row. Can someone please take a look and let me know what's going on?

VIN: 1FTEW1CP3MKD40000

I really think, based on Ford’s response so far to the issues, that they really don’t care about the potential bad press. The OTA fiasco for ‘21s is pretty well known. As I understand it, the later MYs are not plagued with the same issues. They are letting this ride IMhO and won’t do anything different.

As I was doing that, I remember that the 5/6 button is what did release my tailgate on my 18, so you are correct, but it only works for non-full power tailgates.

3/4 unlocks all doors, 5/6 drops tailgate....

@rugedraw I will be reaching out in the future, too. My truck skipped over the updates for the Cameras In Motion and Pro Trailer Back Up Assist With Sticker. Waiting a bit to buy the Mongoose cable.

I have the same issue. My truck is missing some of the updates (like using the sticker for pro trailer backup). Can the older updates be applied using a mongoose cable?

I just got my truck back from the dealer and am told all updates have been applied, but I'm not seeing fullscreen carplay available. My automatic update option is no longer greyed out though so something changed. Could someone check my VIN 1FTEW1EP1MKE27312?

I can't tell if your truck skipped over updates or not at this point. The update that is in your queue right now requires the vehicle to be inhibited. Either set your auto-updates on, or go into your touchscreen, check for updates, and install it manually. Once you hit the install button, lock your truck, take the key and walk away and let it sit for 10 minutes. When you go back to it, it should be installed.

Lmk when you're ready. We will take this project on in the f1q50gen14 forum where the real experts on these issues live.

Yes. Without a doubt.

They definitely performed several updates to many modules. They seem to have possibly replaced your APIM, ran a successful PMI on it, and updated the APIM, GWM and TCU several times. They just didn't finish all the updates. They did get your truck out of OTA limbo and you will eventually get the rest of the updates via OTA which was impossible for you before. They did fix your truck, but it is not fully updated. Yet.

Am I at risk of having updates skipped over like I've seen discussed above? Thanks!
