Considering just letting it be stuck rather than going through the hassle of messing with the dealership - incompetence, no loaners, all that… What do you guys think? One last side note, should I try putting the truck on a charger for the night and manually scheduling an update? Just curious if that might work in this particular situation. Thanks!
mine also got stuck on 1.7.1 in November, same symptoms, nothing since. I tried manually scheduling an update and leaving it on a charger (and setting the parking brake!) - no luck.

I have been hoping the rumored software update will appear and the dealers will learn to fix the problem. I really think this is software, not hardware, and I don’t want an endless process of the dealer tearing apart the truck and replacing modules and hoping. I want to take care of the stuck OTA problem, the underbody insulation recall and the blue cruise update all in one visit.

Mine did the same thing with the 1.7.1 in November. My dealer had to replace the APIM, it took about two days and they had it fixed. I have received three updates since then.

Well, that is encouraging. I’ve seen a number of people note on line that they are waiting to get the APIM replaced, but not too many come back and say it fixed the problem. I’m going to have to bite the bullet and venture into the dealer eventually.

I still don't think I have received any updates in 11 months since purchase.
One issue I have had is that since this is not my normal driver, when only driving short distances for a couple of weeks the battery goes flat. I went out today and found the battery voltage at 11.8, and nothing would turn on when opening the door. It is on the charger now. I have had to do this numerous times. Guessing I need to add a jack on the side of the truck to plug in a charger like my wife's plug-in Cmax.

I'm also stuck on a failed 17.1 update from November 11, 2022. Grayed out update buttons, yada, yada, yada. According to the scriptable FordPass widget, my SYNC hasn't updated since November 16, 2020, which I assume is right around my build date. I assume that means I need an APIM. To top it off, I jumped in the truck yesterday only to find it totally unresponsive with a dead battery. I plan to take it in for the windshield and driveshaft recalls, a wacky rear distance sensor that freaks out whenever it gets wet, the APIM, and now the battery drain. I've had the truck for 13 months now coming off a 2006 Tacoma I bought new. I love the truck, but these issues have turned me off from Ford a bit.

For those getting "unstuck" by getting the APIM replaced, it sounds like TSB 21-2249 is the proper fix.
The phantom battery drain TSB looks to be TSB-21-2097.

Are there any other TSBs I should mention when I bring it to the dealer? I've been waiting to take it in to fix the OTA update, but the battery drain is the last straw. It sounds like there's hope that the problems can be rectified. I assume it's still too early to get BlueCruise activated though.

I had the similar issues but after 1.7.1 was supposedly successfully installed. I got OTA 1.6 in the Sept/Oct 2021 timeframe but then got no more through late Dec-21. I got looking one day and noticed the truck would not maintain connection to my WiFi even though the access point was 15 feet from the truck. I had to mess with that a long time to finally get it to connect. Once it connected, I saw that it started downloading a bunch of data, so I decided to leave the truck on to see how long it would go if uninterrupted. After ~20-30 minutes, it had downloaded ~2GB of data and the data flow stopped. I turned off the truck and on the next startup I got the notification that 1.7.1 had been installed.

Things seemed OK, but within a few days just went wacky with all of the advanced cruise functions. SSR was turning on and off, grayed out buttons, etc. Lane keeping was wandering all over the place, getting into almost a rhythmic cycle left to right and back, each time getting more abrupt in the corrections to a point I had to turn lane keeping off. Took it to the dealer and they applied TSB 21-2249 to reprogram and recalibrate the IPMA. They also reloaded all of the modules with the latest updates, saying it took ~4 hours to download everything. All ACC functions seemed to work OK and I got 2 more OTA updates over the next week or so. I think the last one was 2.3.1 if I recall correctly

Everything worked great for about 2 months. Now, I am getting more weird issues with the ACC functions. I select ACC in the menus with lane keeping and SSR and it works. When I turn off the truck then start it again, ACC is again turned off. I can manually go back in and turn it on, then I must toggle the SSR off then on and it will start working again, but it will not maintain the settings between key cycles. For some reason, it is not saving my selections for the ACC features.

So hoping that the new updates will start flowing again to fix these ACC issues and then hopefully will eventually get the Blue Cruise update along with all the other folks with Job 1 trucks...

You're lucky. Got new APIM and nothing since.

I was just reading the dealers work order, it says after they put the new APIM in it still wouldn't update to the 1.7.1, they tried six times the first day and nothing, next morning it went through the first time. It shows they also updated the IPMA and the SCCM while it was there. Yes, I do feel lucky it worked for me! Try calling 800-392-3673 and ask for the "over the air update department" they can tell you if an update failed or if one is pending.

My dealership just text me to let me know they received the new APIM today and they hope to have it installed and reprogrammed by COB today or tomorrow at the latest.
