Some new news/good news: Looks like 3.5.3 is rolling out to some trucks and will (amazingly) bring all of this goodness (Alexa, full screen CarPlay/Android Auto, improved graphics) OTA to more trucks soon.

 

Yeah, back on Sep 27th I got 3.5.2, now the past 4 days my truck has downloaded over 2 gigs, I read 3.5.3 was 5gigs, so i'm almost halfway there!

 

How are you able to tell how much or if you are downloading a patch? Could this be maps if you have Nav?

 

I look it up with the app for my wifi, my truck is under the name "mdm9650-tcu", yours should be the same. It could be something else but I think it is 3.5.3, because in the 3.5.2 it said i'll be getting another download soon that will complete the process.

 

Can we see a shot of Android Auto in full screen without the sidebar or is this the one you're talking about?

 

This is the full screen, the sidebar from SYNC gets replaced with one from android auto, and from what I can tell from messing around with it for a little bit can be configured separately to show different things from your phone. ( though I have not fully confirmed what all can be displayed on it)

 

I can check via PTS website to see if you have an OTA going on if you shoot me a VIN #

 

I have been on the road the last 10 days in my Job 1 2021. I got notice of 2.8.1 being downloaded and attempting to load. It failed twice while traveling. I changed the F/W update schedule to not update until I got home. Drove almost 10 hours yesterday and last night the update still failed. Tonight I have the battery connected to a 10amp charger set to "maintenance free" mode, with the hood closed. See what happens.....
