^ ^ ^ That's correct, Phil.

I would think you could simply drive around it.

What that degree of tire size change does, with the 6- speed, is make 1st through 5th act like 2nd through 6th.

So I basically would have a 7 speed.

lol JK.

so you guys are saying with a flash tune, it would change the shifting points in the transmission. Thus making it shift like a 3.73 or 3.55? Are there any cons to this?

No, and don't believe anyone who says it does. That's nothing but snake oil.

A tune will have altered spark and fuel maps, perhaps camshaft phase alterations too.

The transmission gear ratios are fixed. The axle gearing is fixed (not variable).

A tune may also alter shift POINTS (on the tach) and shift *quality* (the speed with which each clutch pack engages and disengages) can be altered, yes.

Gear ratios? No. Not until you change the ring-and-pinion gear set.

Thanks again for your insight. Im up in the air about a tune. I’ve never had one and I don’t wanna mess up anything on the truck. Runs pretty good as it sets... As cool as I think the 315s look, I’m still thinking I should run a smaller tire.

Don't overdo it on wheels or tires unless you want to have a truck that you hate. The groups constantly have people trying to unload their massive 22x12's for "stocks," because they want out of that big ol' mess. I went w/ 20x9.5's and only ONE size bigger tire than stock. Happy with that. Don't want bigger.

I noticed a difference just going from a 30.5 stock to a 32.8 I couldn't imagine what 35's would feel like.

Well the stock 275/65/18s measure 32.1 new. The 305/65/17 measure 32.6. I think (and hope) I should be ok. This is all according to tire rack. I just measured the 315/70/17 this morning and they measured 33... they also have about 5,000 miles of tread left. Supposed to measure 34.4 new.

Its the offset everyone rips on, they stress the wheel hub.
