Tires are decent. Like I said, they're light in weight. No, the shift map is the same. There are three shift maps, actually.
1. Just regular Drive or Manual (shifting with the +/- toggle)
2. D/M + Tow/Haul
3. D/M + Sport, which is where I spend all of my time.
You should be good with a 285/70 (32.7 - 32.8")
Ok sounds good. So with the 3.31... you’re saying 32.8” is the highest you can go without having to tune anything or spend a bunch of money on a regear? I’m getting quotes now on prices for a set of BFG 33x12.5s
That's what I'm running and my truck runs great. It's just a little long-legged, so I drive around it by using very part throttle, letting a few more revs develop and shift manually in Sport mode. Runs great, but the only time I get really good mileage is at 70 in 6th on level ground with no headwind. 22+! at a steady 1700-1750 RPM.

If there’s one thing 3.31 is good for it’s the fuel mileage. So one more thing. You have the issue with your truck not getting into 6th on backroads as well?
I don't want my truck in 6th unless I can get at least 1500-1600 engine RPM. When I"m not shifting manually, I'll have at least 6th turned off/locked out, if not then 5th/6th or 4th, 5th and 6th turned off if I'm in town.
And I'd probably see *better* overall (not just 70 MPH cruise in perfect conditions) fuel mileage once I swap in a 3.73 or 4.11. There's just a wee bit too much load with the taller drive wheel/tire combo.
Are the FX4s already Lifted? And if so by how much?
That's the same question I've been trying to figure out. Its happened often enough now that someone will ask if our 2020 FX4 Lariat CrewCab 4x4 has been leveled.
Next step is to take measurements then drop by a dealership and compare with another 2020 if some are still left, or share them here.
The aggressive offset on (most) aftermarket wheels is the issue, but it does look like there's enough space...might just be me though!

I’ve heard the answer to this is no, but I have the only FX4 where I work and mine stock sits the highest. The most comparable truck at work is a 2019 Lariat 4x4 with 275/55/20s which is almost dead on the same diameter of the 275/65/18s but mine is just slightly noticeably higher. Others do have the smaller 17” wheel combos which would account for it.

I'll try and get some measurements and pictures at full lock with the 20" on (with winter tires on, but they are exactly the same as stock) to show the clearance with the inner bumper frame. With the wheels straight ahead there's ample room, but yeah, full lock and under load will be telling.
When we traded in our 2011 FX4 the sales guy had one of the tech confirm that I didn't level the truck as he didn't believe me...so two different gen, same comments from quite a few ppl...we're either all correct or all need to go get our eyes checked
I did the same thing to my 2016 using the Rancho QuickLIFT Loaded Leveling Struts and purchasing a ReadyLIFT Rear Block Kit 3" that gave my truck a great look and stance and capable of 35" tires. The strut actually lifted the front 3.25" when I was expecting 2.5"
However, Even though the ride was good, the handling on the front end was horrible and I ended up removing and changing to a 2" spacer. Still looks good but handles much better.
For the rear lifting block, the block is 3" but if you remove the factory block (1.25"/32mm), you will get the 2" leveling look as you see in here. I replaced the factory block with the 3" to have only ONE BLOCK, for safety. Don't forget to replace the shocks!
BTW, those are the factory 20" wheels and tires.

Reason: Added a note about the wheels and tires.
