The Leveling Kit Thread
So there’s a ton of info and here and almost 300 pages to read through on here is a bit much. I’ve had either a pickup or suv for the past 15 years but I’ve never tried leveling them or changing out wheels/tires. So this is all new to me. I am very interested in adding a leveling kit either 2” or 2.5” and I have my eyes on these Fuel Contra wheels and it says they are 20x9 or 20x10. I just really need help with all of this. If I were to go with a 2.5” lift and I got the 20x9s what size tires do I have to get with them? Will that setup rub? Or do I need to go with the 20x10? Complete noob questions probably but I’m at a total loss in this world. Mine is a 18 SCrew. Thanks
Dont know a thing about the rims, but the one thing I can tell you is measure your rake BEFORE doing anything!!!!! I installed the blistien 5100 leveling shocks and set them at 2.1" lift after reading that most people's were perfect at that setting! It was 1" too high in the front! Then I read that the block in the rear on a 2019 4x4 was 1.5" so I ordered a 3" block for the rear and expected to end up with 0.5" rake. When I pulled the rear block on my 2019 fx4, it was 1" so that left me with 2" of lift and it still has the 1" factory rake 🤬🤬🤬🤬 I'm leaving it there for now as it was perfect with my pontoon hooked to it yesterday but originally I was shooting for perfectly level!!!!!!
Offset is everything. It’s how far your tires may stick out from the wheel well. I’m pretty sure those wheels in 20x9 come in both +20 and +1 offset. Those will be your best fit option. For some stupid reason with truck wheels a 20x10 tends to come in really low offsets and I believe this exact wheel is around -19, aggressively pushing the tires outside of the fenders which usually causes rubbing issues even with something as normal as a 33” tire.

Thanks for this info! You are correct. They come in+20 and +1 offset. So I will stay looking at those. Now as far as tires....how do I figure out a 33? I know I want a 33 based on a little research that I’ve done that that’s the biggest wheel I can get in there without rubbing. I just don’t know how you order a 33” tire lol I’m assuming they get measured as your typical tire would. Something like 275/55/20. Thanks for the help!

That 275/55/20 is a 32" tire, OEM size. A 275/60/20 is a 33". With a +20 wheel, almost any 33" will work, there is a possibility that the width could bite you. Here's a calculator you might useful. Bear in mind that the wider you go will also give you a taller tire for any given aspect ratio.

I just ordered a set of Amp LT305/70R18 A/T's for my truck. Guy at the tire/4x4 shop said those are the biggest that will fit without rubbing or modifying the truck. It comes out to be 34.8x12. They are a reputable shop and do a BUNCH of business so I trust them on the size. That and if they rub, they can take them back lol. That's with the blistiens on front set at 2.1" and 3" blocks in the rear. 2019 f150 xlt fx4 screw.

I believe those are +44 offset, width, someone help me out, 7.5-8? Ya, that would be the biggest for sure, you might still run into a problem with clearance to the UCA. Good luck with this, please let us know what happens.
