Double pressing the traction control button slowly enables Advance Track Sport Mode . It is often overlooked and is different than simply putting the truck in sport mode. I never really noticed any difference with it or understood its purpose until this week and it's now my favorite drive-ability feature. It should be called Canada Mode. It completely transforms the ride in deep snow. Here is my breakdown of what to expect in deep snow in inner city driving conditions, particularly at junctions.
With traction control enabled (Nanny mode): in 2H, 4A or 4H when traffic lights turn from red to green expect broad power loss across all wheels the instant any tire slips even a little bit. Which can be very frustrating when trying to make the worlds shortest green left turn arrows or trying to clear a 4 way stop quickly.
With traction control disabled (Fun mode): in 2H, 4A or 4H when traffic lights turn from red to green expect to go nowhere if you accidentally accelerate too much or find yourself on a little bit of ice or doing 4 wheel drive donuts intentional or not.
Advance track sport enabled (Canada mode): in 2H, 4A or 4H it greatly increases the threshold before power loss to all wheels. It allows for a fair bit of slip in case if you are on ice or accelerated too quickly by accident. It is much more forgiving and provides the perfect amount of traction for winter at city speeds in poor conditions.
If I could control the settings myself, the truck would default to AdvanceTrac sport mode and the Traction Control button would toggle between that and AdvanceTrac off, but sadly that's not the way it works.
I have been playing with all of these settings over the last week now that lots of snow has arrived in my region. Enabling advance track sport is now the first thing I do before putting on my seat belt or turning on the radio.

It does work pretty well for intentionally applying a bit much throttle on corner exit and letting the computer figure out how much traction is available, and I definitely like it when I'm driving in mixed conditions and not planning on doing any substantial throttle-steering. My normal drive up to the local ski hill is AdvanceTrac off until I make it out of city limits and onto the county road, AdvanceTrac sport mode up the county rode where it can be a little variable but not particularly twisty, and then AdvanceTrac off again when I hit the ski area road (there are a couple of corners that benefit from throttle steer).

I thought this only worked on 4wd trucks, but I tried it tonight and it works on my 2wd as well!
Thanks for the tip!

Not a tip, but a question.
Has anyone removed the front chrome bumper, black plastic trim?
I looked quick and it seems to pop out by applying finger pressure on tabs behind.
Anyone have any further info?
Thanks,
TomJV

Yep, pops right off, but some of the metal clips holding it will stay in the bumper - just pull them out & bend the teeth back in shape before reinstalling the trim piece

Extra usb??
i have a 2015 xlt screw 5.0 with basic sync and radio and was wondering if it has a spare usb hidden anywhere? I have read on here that some have found one on the backside of the radio and are able to get the correct cable and wire it into the glovebox for there iPod. I have also read that people have used this usb to power dash cams, gps units etc. before I start tearing the dash apart to find this thing can anyone confirm that there is one in this location? Secondly is it possible for me to upgrade to the touchscreen radio/infotainment unit and sync 3? If so how would i go about that? Thirdly if I am upgrading the radio display etc I might as well do the dash cluster also. I just have the little 2” and would love to have the cool display with many more options, is this possible? With these upgrades would I have to change things in the forscan thing? I don’t even know how to go about that either. I’m new to this and this truck but I really like that you can changealot of things to the way you want them instead of being stuck with whatever you buy. Thanks for any help.
