Hints, Tips and Tricks
The cell-phone compartment under the HVAC controls on my XLT just fits my Galaxy S6 Active diagonally; in order to plug it in, I had to pick up a right-angle USB cord. With that setup, it just barely fits. If your phone is close, the right-angle plug might just tip the balance.
The spare tire lock cylinder
3/8" drive into F150 spare irons
For you guys who are CRAZY clean on your trucks, I'd suggest you pull the spare tire lock cylinder out and give it a look. I pulled the cylinder on my 2015(but bought in 2016) today and it was all gunked up with shiat.
Furthermore, I lowered the spare and it was also a mess. I can see that thing rusting out over time.
Prolly something you'll want to do periodically.
Aside from the clean thing, I'd suggest you new/non truck guys pull the tools and lower the spare once before you have to at 3AM in the dark. I posted pics of what I think was a great help; using my drill to lower and raise the unit. It's a standard 3/8" drive.
REV Gear safety System (or whatever they call it)
I think I posted this a while back, but it's a good one to underscore. When you roll backwards in REV gear, the backup warning system will not work. You can run into/over something and NOT get a warning. I like the system, but I have to CONSTANTLY remind myself when switching from car to car or rolling back in REV. It's not like I'm careless, but you get used to the beep beep beep thing for sure.

Just something that I recently found out and thought that I would share here. I hooked up my boat trailer for the first time and everything looked good upon hookup. Trailer recognized with no faults.
I went to test the brakes with the manual actuator and the truck came back with "Trailer Disconnected"! That didn't sound right and had me worried. I was lucky in that I didn't need to tow but was just hooking up and checking.
I came here on the F-150 forum and did some digging and found that the truck has options for trailer brake types. I didn't know that there were different trailer brake types, yes I realize that many of you do but I have towed without brakes for 20 years with my Fords, never had a trailer with brakes ;-) Til now.
I changed the brake type to "Electric over Hydraulic" and Voila, all worked fine.
Another nice touch by Ford to recognize this and give us an option. Sharing so that others might benefit as well.

Didn't like the look of the cloth tape over the wires leading inside the tailgate. Had a piece of 3/4 harness 'cover'.... slid enough of it on to go inside the tailgate and back to make a much cleaner look.
Does anyone have a link to the heavy plastic film that I might apply in this area to reduce the scratches?

Thanks to Airborne_Ape you are now able to do this.

What's this? The auto turn signal (1/2 press on the stalk)?
If so, THANKS! I always wanted more flashes.

That's exactly what it is. And, from all reports, when a trailer is hooked up there are still the additional flashes.
The mod for earlier models is a bit different and can be found here:
