I did the SYNC3_NON_NAV_V1_to_V22.zip update last night. I unfortunately had self inflicted issues. I followed the readme instructions except I thought I would use two flash drives just to make it easier. First flash drive was formatted FAT32, but I forgot to format the second flash drive which was formatted NTFS.
First drive (FAT32) inserted on my drive home from work (takes about 20min.) it was done before I pulled in the driveway. It said update successful. I shut the truck off, went inside for a few minutes, came back to the truck started it and inserted the NTFS formatted drive not realizing my mistake. Sync read the 2nd drive started the update, took 10 min. for drive 2 to return an update failed error. After reading the readme a second time I had an a-ha moment that quickly became an oh-**** moment. So... I thought no big deal, re-formatted the 2nd drive put the autoinstall.lst and SyncMyRide folders in the root of the drive, started the truck and tried drive 2 (now FAT32) again. NO DICE! it recognized the drive, indexed it, then nothing. Now, I will say that this time when I started my truck, a few of the settings had changed, for example, I usually have the display set to night mode 24-7. But it had been changed to Auto. I didn't notice any other changes at first, all my radio stations seemed to be there, bluetooth connected to my phone etc., but the voice command feedback voice seemed to be different.I checked the version in General-> About Sync and it still showed v1. I re-inserted the drive a couple of times but nothing, nothing at all happened.
So- back to square one. I formatted both drives again, put the respective files on them and retried the update. Inserted drive one - indexed, then nothing. Well ****... I did a master reset, shut truck off openned door, waited a few minutes, re-started truck, inserted drive one and voila Update started. It worked for about 15 minutes and came back with "update failed" I removed drive one, immediately inserted drive 2, update started in about 10-12 min "Update successful!" pulled the drive, restarted the truck and BOOM!
So far no issues, but I have an iPhone and haven't got my HC3Z-19A387-B module. It's on back order. The Android Auto icon is visible in the Sync menus.
Moral of the story, follow the readme exactly or you'll have issues like me.
I posted this in case some other dufus like me make the same mistake.
Can someone link the instructions again? I read through 10+ pages and unable to locate the files. Most of the links were dead. The only one I found that worked took me to the Focus site and there was only 1 file. I tried it and it didn't work.
If you find a link that works please let me know. I can't get any of them to work for me.
Trying to catch up to the thread, but I noticed that Ford is now pushing OTA updates. I spoke with the service advisor (was at the dealer getting other problems fixed) and their master tech came in saying that they had 20 cars get upgraded automatically to 2.2.
Sure enough I came home and when my truck connected to wifi, it automatically updated!

Holy ****, small miracles do exist. Can't wait to get home from work and check my truck.
