You all know you can use a paint can opener you get free from Home Depot to pop out your old USB hub. Just put tape on the tip so you don't scratch your truck.

This may have already been covered and if so, please disregard this post.

I use Android Auto (only for Navigation) and found it frustrating that every time my phone connected to Sync 3 the Android Auto App would start. This is easily resolved by going into the Android Auto App settings menu (see attached photo of the settings menu on my Samsung S6) and disabling the "Auto Launch" feature. Now the App only starts when I want to use it for Navigation

I had the same reservations but after reviewing hundreds of posts I have seen nothing about warranty problems with Ford.

Not sure about going back to original version. I have not seen where that has been done.

Then there is this from the Forscan Thread:

Also if one is to use this FORScan and change stuff does that void warranty etc? TY

Ford has said the Sync 3 update that will include Android Auto will happen sometime before the end of the year. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act says that Ford could not deny your warranty claim unless it could prove the modification you did with FORScan was the cause of the warranty issue.

I went ahead and upgraded to 2.2 and will be making Forscan changes today.

The Google maps and google voice search really works well. I was curious to see if the Ford Website showed the upgrade to their website regarding my upload and it now says that I am upgraded to v2.2.
If you're worried about data using AA and google maps, you can tell google maps to cache certain areas for offline navigation.

You can even force it to only use the cached data unless you're connected to wifi.

Every time I get in the truck I have to turn my bluetooth on the phone off and on again to get it to stay connected to media.

Never had this issue with the older truck and 1.0, and a master reset of the Sync system only helped for about a day.

Could the v2.2 help?
Did you delete the "old" SYNC connection on your phone before you paired it to the new truck? If not delete it from phone and SYNC and re-pair them.

Thanks, that is something I have needed.

You haven't found the same option for the IHeartRadio app have you.

I like the app because one of the stations I listen to has bad coverage in my area but I hate that it starts & restarts automatically when I connect my phone to my truck.

Haven't had much luck via Google.

Default Pertinent information

Now that this topic is at 200 pages, nearing 2000 posts. reading through this literally takes all day.

I started to copy/paste information and had a "hmm" moment. so I'm making my notes available through Google docs this is the basics and welcome additions that are relevant to updating firmware, hardware interchange,breaks/fixes of the thread.
Yes, there is a lot more information that needs to be added to, grouped, cleaned up, so...

This is a shared document and all can edit to contribute.

Default Apple Car Play Hub for sale

Hi All,

Don't know if anyone is interested but I'm selling my Apple Car Play Hub - Ford Part No GJ7Z-19A387B. It's the one with white lights around the USB ports.

Will sell including shipping (Domestic USA) for $57. Works great I just got the hub with blue lights so I'm selling the old one.

PM me if interested.

Thanks

Count me in the upgraded group. Sort of.
8/16 truck build with Sync3 version 2.0. I did not upgrade the software version.
Installed the HC3Z-19A387-B part from Walt Sweeney. The alternative white lit part was available but I waited a couple weeks to received the blue lit one because I preferred it match the rest of the back lit buttons in the truck. Carplay works with no problems. I don't have navigation. So the apple maps will be a good feature on the big screen.
Have to give some props to the OP for starting this informative thread.
