Current SYNC 3 and CarPlay/Android Auto Information
Aww man, sorry to bring your hopes up. You might be right and its a regional thing. My sync 3 donor came from a late 2016 MKT w/ v1.0, dont know if that has anything to do with it.
pretty sure the fact that it was a Lincoln in its previously life has everything to do with it. Ford has been pushing th update to Lincoln vehicles.
Trying to catch up to the thread, but I noticed that Ford is now pushing OTA updates. I spoke with the service advisor (was at the dealer getting other problems fixed) and their master tech came in saying that they had 20 cars get upgraded automatically to 2.2.
Sure enough I came home and when my truck connected to wifi, it automatically updated!

(Slight derail), truck has been in the shop for three days trying to get a clicking noise coming from the fan. Air just doesnt blow. So the aforementioned "master tech" comes in while I'm discussing sync 3 and says what he says, before I start asking him questions about my problem.
Long story short, they supposedly replaced some solenoids, I start the truck while the service writer is there with the master tech, and sure enough, click click click.
/end rant
No worries man, I'm good. I'm not in a huge rush for CarPlay which is why I'm waiting for the official Ford release instead of the one on the boards. Your ex-lincoln head unit is likely why it updated. Odd tho the dealer said he had 20 update. Probably doesn't know what he's talking about

Jason mentioned he thinks its going by serial number, not VIN since my VIN is a Ford and not Lincoln. I agree with him.
Ok, so got the hub installed (had updated to v2.2 a week ago) and now have Apple Carplay. (Finally!)
Question.......
Anybody know how much data gets used in situations like:
-Phone plugged in via usb but not unlocked (i.e. Either using Sync, not Carplay or maybe just the Carplay menu up but nothing selected per se)
-Phone plugged in, still locked, but using maps (map's greyed out but still shows me driving without any predetermined destinations)
-Phone plugged in, unlocked and using maps. (I'm assuming this uses the most as maps screen is now full color with routes that Siri thinks I should take like home, work, etc.)
I noticed the phone wanted me to "allow Sync3 to use locations even when locked" but I told it "not now", yet it still was able to show me on maps.
(shrug)

I always keep the streaming to almost nil. (only on Wifi) And I'm typically the lowest user in the whole family so I should probably start using more data anyway.
Now we gotta find a way for it to play movies on-screen.
