I remember when you got that. Glad my 2016 Explorer HD radio worked with AS/S with no problems. As Brentkhack says it is an easy forscan change to turn on HD and most of the HD radios have removable brackets so you can swap then with the ones on your original one.

I didn't get to change out the radio, but I did go through my previous thread and stated this is what I purchased (FM5T-19C107-KH)

Took my '16 Lariat to the stealership to diagnose Sync issues on 3/4. APIM was found to be the culprit. I picked up the truck that afternoon and had them order the new APIM. The service writer called today and said the new part is in and they will install in about 1.5 hrs tomorrow. Total cost including diagnostics, labor and parts is just over a grand. The truck has 62,000 miles so yay no warranty coverage.

Mine was over $1000 as well. It worked great for a while, but it still has the same issues intermittenly(I am sure that is spelled wrong). I have found most of the time if I turn it off and let everything cycle, when I start it back, it seems to work....

I'd be gathering all of these threads up showing how the APIM is a known problem, be calling Ford Corporate to open a case, and be instructing the dealer that you expect them to assist you. This is a known, ongoing issue with these APIMs... Ford needs to make it right, not crowbar a grand out of your wallet.

If that is the case it is sad that they have not resolved these issues or have been able to improve their workflow to cut the wait times for warranty claims.
Amazing how patient everyone is with Ford.
Longer than that, they had mass APIM failures with the old MyFord Touch system in the 13-15, they actually extended warranty coverage on those units. I hope they do so for Sync 3 as well.
