problem is ESP are rip offs...the real problem is the ford product is not up to par. They have a bad parts supplier and they refuse to admit it. Most likely designed wrong in the first place

I think the automakers are trying to do too much with these info systems. It's just Ford, I have a friend that has a Honda and his Infosystem took a crap. His car was 1 1/2 years old. I would disagree about the ESP, it's just insurance, I have it on my wife's car and we have gotten the money back we paid for it.

New update, well my truck has been at the dealer for the last 4 days, and I was told it might be Monday before I see the truck again. So, I went by to pick up a couple of things from the truck and talked to the service advisor and tech today. I was told the good and bad news for me at least. I guess Ford is using an upgraded APIMs (IE from the model year 18/19) instead of the 17 model year APIM. The bad news is that my truck is refusing to take a firmware upgrade for the new APIM so it's throwing "Hard errors" even through everything appears to be working correctly the tech is not conformable with releasing the truck until the errors are going. I am glad they are taking this route vs be going back and forth to the dealership. The tech is waiting on feedback from Ford on how to deal with the problem. A 2 hours fix has now turn in to at least a week of time. The only bright spot is that I am running miles up on the dealership's car!

The APIMs off 2019s are completely different, they're not backwards compatible. If anything they're probably trying a 2018 on older trucks. The do have a backlog of about two weeks, I'm waiting for one as well.

That makes since, I hope you don't go thru the same issue that I did. If they tell me the fix I will post it.

You should check your owner account and see if it shows any recent activity on the SYNC system.

My 16 Lariat with 34k miles is in the shop as I type this... My Screen stopped responding the other day.. like it was locked up! I turned off the truck, then, any function regarding the NAv, would not repsond to touch.. Turned off again, and then it came up black/blank and would do nothing. It sat overnight, and then everything works OK now.

Dealership said it needed a software/firmware update! and installed said update.

I am guessing they are trying to push replacing the unit out past Warranty, so Ford won't have to pay for it.

If it exhibits the problems again anytime soon, I do plan to fight for replacement under Warranty, because I turned it in under warranty, and they misdiagnosed it.

Where on the Owners Account do you go to get such details?... Mine only shows that I took my truck in for general service, with no detail what so ever.

Yes, get it fixed under warranty. That is the exact problem, record it if possible with your phone. My dealership was very good on work with me. The other option, is get ESP Premium. You can buy it before your warranty expires, depending on your state you might be able to buy is on-line cheaper then ford offers. They will do 24 mo 0% on the ESP contract, it's work it. I did 8 year and 125K miles (from in service date). If you live in Florida (or Texas I think) its going to be more then if you don't. It's some stupid Florida law.
