Adding Front Camera to XLT
FYI I had a customer tell me that if he unlocked his door with the keyfob twice he had no issues. This doesn't sound like it could be related in any way but he swore by his method. He mentioned the logo not showing up being directly correlated to the interface not functioning. Seems that when he unlocks a couple times using the key fob the logo always appears.
Don't forget to stand on one foot and hop while doing this... Sorry had to interject some humor. However, I'm serious about the key fob thing but have not tested this myself just relaying the info.

I think you are confusing the issue here a bit. The module from Rostra appears to run a version of Windows CE while updating. That is all I was saying. I was not saying Sync 3 is running CE.

here's another SSM fresh out of the oven:
May 22 2017 4863 - 2016-2017 Ford/Lincoln – SYNC 3 v2.2 – APIM Programming Installation Failed Error
A ‘Installation Failed Error Code: MEM_ERR03’ error message may occur when programing the SYNC module to v2.2. Programming tips: The USB flash drive must be 32GB formatted to exFAT. Do not remove the USB flash drive from the media hub until the final installation message is displayed (non-Nav vehicles have two installation complete messages). Perform a complete ignition cycle by turning the key off for 5 minutes (open/close driver’s door) which is critical for a successful installation. If these tips are ineffective, perform a SYNC master reset (Settings > General > Master Reset), ignition OFF for 5 minutes, ignition ON, and insert the USB drive again to complete programming. If the message is still present, no additional repairs should be attempted. Engineering is aware and is currently investigating. Monitor OASIS for future updates.

I am going to be working with Rostra directly on this 2.0 sync 3 issue. They are almost ready to drop the new hardware for the 2.2 update. My guess is we will all be able to get the newer module without much headache. I think it would be rather unfair to luck us in to a version that does not support Apple Carplay.

Thanks for your help on this black screen issue. I got it yesterday as I was starting a long drive. Super annoying. In the mean time, would you recommend installing the latest push to start update over the 4-1-2017 update?

It is more stable. Of that I am fairly certain. It is up to you. After the install, I have only had about 5 black screen instances. That is better than the previous version which was 2-3 a day.
