On the adapter (Apple) I plug in from the factory USB to the extra input and it charges my phone while using HDMI.

I drove approximately 175 miles today, the entire time using Google Maps happy to report no problems. Sound works when I use the command Bluetooth audio, thanks.

 

Thanks for the information. The latest reviews of that ios adapter indicate netflix is no longer able to send video along with a few other apps. Let me know if it works for you if you get a chance.

 

I don't have Netflix. Only thing I've used the adapter for is Google maps.

If there's something else I could try to confirm if it works, let me know. Would YouTube be a test that would help you?

This morning I got the black screen, I lost count of how many times I had to open the door, shut, restart to get it working . Then while driving my screen decides to freeze up then another screen was stacked on top of the background screen and froze up, so many problems I pulled over and tried to remedy it.

This system is making me very frustrated/angry, usually enjoy cruising around, going on trips etc. now it's miserable. If they don't find a fix soon I'm yanking it all out.

Besides my frustration it's embarrassing when you have a passenger, you know how that goes when you have a new vehicle and things don't work you end up getting the business should Of bought whatever instead of this and then I have to try and explain it's not Ford it's the fact that I tried to modify it and didn't succeed!

I'm getting ready to go put another couple hundred miles on it in a few minutes and I dread having to fight my infotainment system!

Thanks for the honest opinion. Mine is usually ok when driving but not when shutting the truck off. When I decide to sit and listen to music, the next time I try to start up the black screen never changes. Sometimes I will get some strange lockups as well while driving though. It definitely is a buggy system right now. If you could try youtube, that would help. I also have shown it to people and the dreaded black screen came up. I , myself, am not far from throwing in the towel and getting my money back.

 

Basically ran into the same problems during my trip yesterday!

Getting ready to head out and continue my journey. I'll check YouTube to see if it works while cruising down the highway, probably Pink Floyd or Joe Bonamasa!

 

Love Bonamasa saw him in concert at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee and it was amazing. Just an update my team spoke with Rostra yesterday and my rep stated they are close to a firmware upgrade soon. He said next week but I don't like making those commitments since it's not something I can control... just passing along what he said.

Hope this all gets resolved for you soon we are bugging them daily for the fix. In the mean-time you can unplug it and all will be back to normal, though I completely understand that is not ideal it will however keep your screen from going black at the most inconvenient time. I feel the solution is near and this nightmare will soon be behind us.

Hi Chris,

Ford finally release Sync3 v2.2 (Build 17011) in the last few days. My truck updated itself today. I now have access to CarPlay.

Please inform Rostra of this and make sure that they test the new firmware of the module with the new Sync3 version before releasing it.

I'm actually waiting for a few part from Ford (front camera washer hose) before I get into installing the Rostra module, but It won't be long now.

I really hope that this will work properly.

Please keep us inform and continue to put some (good and constructive) pressure on Rostra.

I'm also going to be starting the installation of the secondary backup camera connectors soon, so I'll keep you posted on this also.
