Adding Front Camera to XLT

This is it. It seems to work pretty well. Sometimes when I am watching for a longer time, the sound doesn't exactly match the timing of the picture. The big advantage though is going wireless and being able to send audio over bluetooth. An Amazon Firestick also works, but you need to pair the bluetooth. For ease of use and of course google maps...I would use the microsoft display adapter.
In other news, I talked to my distributor of the Rostra unit yesterday and he said the engineers told him to expect a firmware update by the end of this week. Finally!

...and i will try to get pics tonight. I was watching playoff basketball streamed live from Dishanywhere to my screen and the quality really impressed me. I also just moved to a S8 phone and I am not sure if it works with the iPhone. I will do a bit of research and let you know.

Sorry for posting 3 in a row...but apparently the iPhone will not work with the Microsoft wireless display adapter. You can always plug a apple tv in there and airplay it..but it may be an issue with turning on/off all the time.
Would be an option like the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter but not just supporting WiDi.

I spoke to a representative from Ford yesterday concerning my sync3, I wanted to know when I could expect to have 2.2 installed in my vehicle. The representative promised me she would call me back within an hour, well it's been almost 24 still no return call! I would rather have it done before I do the camera Update.
I tried installing the side cameras today, but ran into some trouble getting the wire into the cab. The main harness that goes through the door hinge area has no extra space around it, so I'm unable to get the wire through and get the harness back in place. This is illustrated on page 36 of TexasFording's fine manual (thanks very much for writing that btw).
I'm thinking of drilling a small hole and sealing it but the new cameras have a large (3/8 in diameter or so) ballast on the wire, so it would have to be a bigger hole than I'd care to drill.
SO, has anybody else had trouble with this?
@CameraSource - can I cut the wire from the camera and splice it? that way I could just do a small 1/8 hole and feed the wire through and rtv it to keep water out.

Hey TF, hadn't seen you around here in a while.
Been around, mostly lurking and following a couple of threads, this one and the one from Luke about his factory retrofit.
I really like the Rostra solution, has lots of potential but of course issues. Hope they get it sorted out soon.

If update is available refer to WSM, Section 415-00 and update APIM software. During the update process the SYNC status bar shows Updating System Software for approximately 30 minutes. After Installation Complete pop-up appears, remove USB flash drive and install into IDS tool to update Ford database. Perform a complete ignition cycle by turning the key off for 5 minutes which is critical for a successful installation.
