Default 2016 Ordering Woes

Hey all,

I ordered my first 2016 in November and it showed up with defective paint in January. I requested a reorder and just checked the window sticker for the new VIN and it has incorrect specs!

I sent a note to the dealer to verify the VIN they gave me, but will be beyond frustrated if it turns out they reordered the wrong truck!

So what was wrong with the paint? I worry that I will be waiting months for my truck only to get it and find something major like that wrong. I am at 4 weeks today with order still in order processing.

Mike-

The front driver side door had chunks missing out of the paint like there was contamination and the paint did not adhere.

My current vehicle had the bumper replaced under warranty and it was a horrible experience- took them over six times to get it where it didn't look like a third grader painted it and they didn't reinstall all the bumper clips. After finally accepting it, it was nowhere near the same durability as the factory paint and immediately started chipping so I have no desire to head down that road on this truck.

Ok,

I understand now. I bought a 1992 Pontiac SSE off the showroom floor. It had a paint run on the left rear quarter but I took the car anyway without a repair.

Went to sell the car at Car Max a few years later and they insisted the car had been wrecked which it had not. They refused to buy it. Lesson learned and I would never accept a new vehicle again with a paint problem.

I am just hoping my 2016 Ford F-150 on order will have no problems!

I hope yours shows up okay! I also started doing some research and found my state's disclosure of damage law for new vehicles and people recommending to look at the vehicle's pre-delivery inspection report before taking delivery of any new vehicle, off-the-lot or special ordered.

Your right, they generally want you to do all the paperwork then check out the vehicle. I have found that their attention span on getting things fixed is much better if you don't do any paperwork until everything is up to your expectations first. Just another lesson I learned when I had to come back to dealer for a fix and nobody seemed to care.

Leave it and come back when things are right! Then and only then do you accept the vehicle and sign the papers! Amazing how quick they all work to get things done.

Not bad for being all the way in the Caribbean.
Ah, makes sense.

JUST returned from the dealer to place my order for a shiny new 2016 Lariat... Now the waiting begins.

I got an A/Z Plan PIN and the dealer was happy to oblige. I feel like I got a great deal on this @ 4.3% under invoice (11% under MSRP).

Thoughts on front paint protection Vinyl ? Who has the best pre-cut kits ?

I'm planning on the same, not sure if I want to do it though? In the thread that Bob Curry started "What mods/changes have you done to your 2015 or 2016? Has a couple of ideas for you.
Wondering what the the wait time is from receiving the vin number, projected build date and then being able to view the window sticker??
