My old workhorse PC that I mostly use as a server and downloader was long past due for a CPU upgrade. It had an AMD Athlon X2 dual core 2.7ghz in it..... I put an AMD Phenom 2 quad core 3.0ghz in it. It surprisingly just took about 30 seconds longer to pass POST, then was ready to go. I was expecting BIOS tweaks, but the board did it automagically. I love ASUS motherboards.

The old girl has Windows 7 Pro on it..... so I'm maxed out at 8GB of ram that it can see. Not too sure if I want to put 10 on it.

That looks sliced... any of the pulleys have a sharp edge in the grooves?

I had that happen on the Toyota. I read that it was because the tension was too high.... but that doesnt have an automatic tensioner.

Any chance it was a little too short, causing extra tension?

No, and no, but apparently this is what happens when the last rib is riding on the edge of the pulley instead of down in it.

The inside edge of the belt is frayed (what I noticed first) and there's a black mark on the front cover.

Mystery solved.

Well, all the Fusion power steering hoses came in today. Now everything is here. Shop wanted $860 for parts. I got everything on the list, delivered for $153, including a new condenser/ps cooler. Other than recharging the system, a quart of Merc V, that is the total parts expense. That is a far cry from almost $1800 they quoted me. I even added a return hose they didn't have on the list. I like this outcome figure much better than theirs lol.
