Don't think it's the brakes, Brew. Here's a better vid. It's sounding more and more like the CV joint.

Found that my Idler arm is bad, too, while looking things over. I wonder if RA will waive my return shipping on the hubs if I end up buying an axle shaft and arm. (Yeah, I didn't think so.) Shame on me for jumping to conclusions before properly diagnosing things. (Gee, where have we seen *that* recently?) You know the water pump is still leaking from the gasket/o-ring, too, and the idle is a little rough once in awhile (haven't installed the rest of the Motorcraft coils yet).

Maybe I should just sell this POS!

Anywho... Axle shaft time?

That's what I figured, AK. Thanks.

Was planning to get the Motorcraft piece, but holy cow!! $250!

Are any of the more affordable options (like this "Heavy-Duty Caredone unit) a decent choice, or do I need to bite the bullet on this one?

Ohio... only 65.00 per side for the Cardone Select #602112. It has the better boots. It, like most axles, are reman's.

Thanks, AK. I wonder what make the one I linked "Heavy Duty."
What do you think about a NOS/surplus unit like THIS ONE on eBay? I can buy it directly from the company (a real warehouse location in Columbus, OH) for $89 plus shipping. Worth the extra money? Any concerns with one that set on a shelf somewhere like that (other than no warranty, of course)?

EDIT: I just loaded up a shopping cart to see what shipping would be, and it's coming up with a note "Your cart does not require shipping." Might be a no-brainer?

When mine eat it, I'm getting them rebuilt by a guy here locally. After watching him rebuild mine (for the Escape), I'll never go through a parts store as long as he's around.

I just got a Cardone Select dizzy for my 351 - Made in China. Not happy.

that is the correct axle for our trucks and a great buy and it's not a rebuild unit.
