I started in on the Stang tonight... as much as I could anyway. I was going to put the PS pump back in so I could get going on the rack. But AZ didn't have the pump in stock, and I wasn't about to drive back to SLC for one.

So I started painting the cooler and scotch brite'd my housing.... the pulley and bolts are soaking. Hopefully I'll have PS again tomorrow.

Debating on painting it. I'm out of Alumiblast though.

I decided the other day to use rubbing compound and see how lil Red would turn out. I was surprised, he turned out well. Nice and smooth now. Nothing trying to hold the towel in one place now. Towel slides off the hood. LOL. I like that. It has better paint than I thought.

Whitey, isn't it always the way. You want to do something, only to find you don't have the product to use when you want. It seems to always be the way things go. lol I ran into that just tonight. I ran out of rubbing compound, so my buddy was going to the store, so he was going to bring me back some more. He brought me back polishing compound. Damn. Before I could leave to the store, it started pouring rain. I gave up for today. It's been raining since 230 and still is as of 830 tonight. Damn the luck`

We could use some rain here. We have 6 fires going on within my county I live in. Including one about 4 or 5 miles from me in the canyon.

House smells like smoke though...

Hope you can make it to the store tomorrow AK.

Thank you. He's almost just as I want him. I'm still debating on the 16 inch wheels I posted earlier. Red came originally with 17's so that would mean I would have to go to either 275/70's or 265/75's.

Listening to the scanner... sounds like they are going to start evacuating people. S4it.

Damn. Sorry about the fires being so vast in your areas. It's normally up here that gets the hot shot crews from the west coast every year. So far, they have been mostly in their own states fighting fires this year. Our own hot shot crew deployed somewhere outside to help already this summer. I think they are back now fighting the two big ones up north. We have a load of fires, but none threatening like yours. I hope nothing happens to you guys or your area.

AK - Man, you have Red looking good! Now I want to take the buffer to mine even more! You should keep that polishing compound. The rubbing stuff should only be needed for serious neglect.

White - Scary stuff when they put people on pre-evac, and worse when they actually have to bug out. The fires here in CO are the worst in a number of years, too. That one near us was small, but took several homes. Wishing you well.

Just drove up there to see.... after looking out on my porch, I decided I better go look. Good news is that it is currently headed south and I am north of it. But a wind shift could change that in a hurry. There are so many people out in lawn chairs where the evacuation order will be served - no doubt in my mind. Even saw a new Explorer with loud speakers on the roof sitting by the fire chief waiting to go.

The bottom pic is from my front porch. I decided to officially clock the distance tonight. 2.8 miles.

3 miles isn't much, -specially if the wind b-lines in your direction. Screw the PS, blasting and paint, throw it back together and move it. It'll steer good enough and look just fine.
