I have one of those, has more of a radius on the hook end. Home made, not sure where it came from, or why it was made, but real handy to have around....versatile that's for sure.

Yea I've seen folks around here go for those whole house systems, but Michigan is pretty lame, they don't get any use. If so it's very far and between. Out there, different story I expect, you guys get the crazy wicked storms. I don't know how people get by on the coast. Not much you can do to protect against surge and the down poors that come with let alone the wind, all that can be catastrophic. Your more inland I expect...safer. Being without power is biggest concern. But you guys get better weather year round where winters can really suck here, sort of the trade off I guess.
